With my first, my water broke and I got the epidural as soon as I was set up at the hospital and hour later and was able to sleep through my whole labor until I needed to push it was so worth having. I plan on having the same with #2

I have watched an epidural before. The thought of a needle that long going into my spine scares the crap out of me. I did not have one with my daughter. I had my husband and mother massage my lower back during contractions. I also had a microwaveable heating pad that I used. It was a life saver. It lasted about thirty minutes and gave them a brake. If you are considering natural m, I recommend the book Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way. It has multiple pain management techniques. Even if you do get the epidural, it's a good read.

I had an epidural with my first child and it's great no back pain but I got a really really bad headache after the delivery. I believe they call that epidural headache. It's a side effects of an epidural shot. So I went back to the hospital and they gave me another epidural shot and the headaches was instantly disappear. The epidural headache is worst than migraine. My second pregnancy I really want to get the shot again but I'm afraid about the headache.

I have a fear of large needles...  And a tendency to be that lucky girl who gets the rare and scary side effects so no, no epidural for me.  This will be baby #3 and I maintain that the only way I'm getting an epidural us if they have to cut me open.  That said, my drug of choice is nubane (not sure how you spell it).  It doesn't get rid of all the pain but makes it so you can relax between contractions.  It was the starter drug they have me and it works well for me.  I would recommend talking to your Dr and try to remember that it's labor, it's not spread
Supossed to be easy or painless, but it is worth it.

No! The button on mine didn't work! So it totally wasn't worth it for me. I ended up feeling everything anyways and now have back pain sometimes where I got it. I'm doing it natural this time. But everyone's different. I've heard of people that had no problem with it and loved it. So it's really up to you. It could go both ways. Good luck! :)

I have had an epidural with all 3 of my deliveries and did not have any side effects during or after whatsoever. I have never had lower back pain even now and I had my first epidural almost 8 years ago. I am pregnant with my 4th and 100% plan to get one again. My only suggestion is do not get it too early, wait til you are at least 6 cm, USUALLY by then it will not slow down your labor. If you get it too early that happens a lot and the baby's heart rate drops and you end up having to get a c section. For me the pain of contractions does not compare to any pain or discomfort of the process of them giving it to you, to be honest I don't even feel it. And obviously since I wait til I am at a 6 or 7 I am feeling contractions for hours. I also get extremely nauseous during delivery and throw up constantly, the epidural helps me with that so I am able to focus on pushing. Personally, I will get an epidural with every pregnancy I have. I think they are great. In my opinion, if they were harmful to the mom and baby they would know by now and not allow them. But they have given epidurals all day, every day, all over the world for years. Not to say you cannot do it without it, lots of women do that too and that is completely fine if that is their choice. But, just to let you know not everyone has side effects or a bad experience and it allows me to relax and enjoy my baby coming into the world instead of being in pain the entire time.

I just had muy baby yesterday and to be honest  the proccess when they put the epidural is very painful. However, what it really bother me its that it slow my labor and ended up getting a c-section because i was stucked at 8cm. Baby is fine, i am fine  going thru a very painful and uncomfortable recovery. Everybody is diferrent, you can try it cuz after getting it you feel not pain during labor, it kight work for you and its worth the trying..

Everyone reacts different to it. I suggest watching the business of being born on netflix. I do recommend them if you are not progressing and you cant relax and youre freaking out during labor it can calm you down. But other than that i do not recommend them. Ill be going all natural for thebsecond time this time around. I had iv drugs my first and i will never recommend that ever. But im for natural the risk of things isnt worth it to me and i feel so many millions of women have gone natural its what we're  meant to do and the less chemicles in my body the better

I had epidural w my first,I couldn't feel ANYTHING even to push but I had no problems he came w 3pushes.my second I tried to get the shot that "takes the edge off"but they give u half a shot to c if u n baby do ok w it first...never got the full **** and it was terrible.mostly back labor and longer than my first BC my body couldn't relax between contractions.this is my third and I'm leaving my options open!!! If I need epidural I'll get it,if not that's fine to!! Only thing I didn't like was not feeling my legs.but that's better than back labor by far!

This is my second child and I dis get an epidural with my first. The process went super smooth. My daughter was out after 4 hours of taking epidural but I have decided to try natural this time. Wont be pushing it but will definitley try. I agree with lower back hurting part but my doxtor told me it is not because of the epidural. It was because of the weakness but I belwive it was epidural. But *t was amazing. You literally feel NO PAIN.

I'm a first time mom and still pregnant lol. To answer your question what I have heard is that in the future your lower back hurts. My younger sister had a epidural and it completely stop her labour.  So what should have been a fast delivery it turn out to be a long one. It's her 3rd baby! After that she started to get a headache so they had to monitor her after the delivery. So yes I do believe there are side effects
