My home birth story

I had prodromal labor for about 2 weeks. Regular, painful contractions would come then stop. I would get a long one, then short indicating the baby was sunny side up and trying to get turned around. My labor team came several times and set up the birthing equipment 3 times which ended with frustration and disappointment. I was stuck at 4cm. I ended up going to the hospital for induction because the pain and this on & off labor was exhausting since it usually happened at night. I was on pitocin for 6 hours and had no cervical change. The next step was to break my water but by then it was 4am and I hadn't slept all night. I decided to stop the induction and go home to wait and pray my baby would come out! It was nearly a week later I went to bed early and I let it all go in my mind I would ever give birth to this baby naturally. I excepted this pregnancy might be a c-section delivery since nothing we did to induce the labor worked. I had 8 sweeps, used homeopathics, spinning babies positions, acupuncture, chiropractor, castor oil cocktails, labor inducing foods, essential oils and acupressure massage and even the real labor inducing drug pitocin...none of it worked!! So I went to bed early 8pm and the contractions started up again. They were super painful and coming 1.5 minutes apart. So what, I thought. But just ten min later, they were 30 seconds. I told my husband he better call the midwife and I called my doula. They both came right over. I started shaking from the rush of hormones and I finally changed my mind, this was it! I was going to meet my baby! My husband scrambled as fast as he could to get the birth pool filled in time. All I wanted to do was get in the water, it was so painful and I was feeling the need to push. I was making sounds I don't even think I could replicate if I tried! They were like from the deep of the jungle lol like a mama lion! Finally I got in the water. It was so nice and relaxing. I pushed a couple more times and they told me to reach down and grab my baby! The cord was short and there was a lot of blood. They asked me to get out of the tub so they could see where all the blood was coming from. The cord tore and the baby lost some blood and they clamped the cord right away. I held my baby the entire time and he fed right away. He was 9 1/2 pounds. The total time i was in active labor was 3 hours, and i pushed for 20 minutes. I guess all the warming up i was doing for weeks beforehand made for a fast delivery. We've been at home resting and eating a lot and I'm so in love and so happy the way he was birthed. It wasn't on my timeline, but it was perfect.
