Pre-existing anxiety and just found out im pregnant

I have suffered from anxiety for 2 and a half years now. I am 5 and a half weeks pregnant and my anxiety seems to be going through the roof. I have also been really dizzy which makes the anxiety worse. Anyone have any good tips for anxiety during pregnancy??

I have extremely severe anxiety.  My doctor decided it was safer to keep me on my medications throughout the pregnancies...on on baby number four right now!  My anxiety does increase with pregnancy and even more after the baby is born.  Hormone shifts definitely do not help the anxiety.  Don't be afraid to say something if you feel you need treatment.  The earlier you address it, the easier it will be.  Even though it doesn't seem like it at the time...the feeling will get better

I am currently 20+6 wks, with baby no 2. I have been dealing with anxiety for longer than I'd like. I've been to counselling, which helped a bit amd currently I've been writing in a diary, keeping track of what causes my anxiety. It helps to stop me from over thinking when I can literally offload it onto paper. I've been to my Dr and explained everything, I asked to be referred bk to counselling.

Unfortunately I work in a job where my manager is about as much use as **** on a boar, so I can't turn to them, especially since they are the soke cause of anxiety and poor treatment of staff.

I advise talking to your Dr, I was told she won't prescribe anything due to being pregnant.

Talking definitely helps, it's just a matter of finding the right portal.
Hope this is of some help. Chin up!

Totally empathise! I suffer from anxiety and depression and when I found out I was pregnant it went through the roof! All I can say is what helped me: no Googling, hypnobirthing meditations (loads on youtube), booked an early scan for reassurance and reaching the 2nd trimester eased my anxiety a lot. Good luck and be honest and open and kind to yourself x

I always get increased anxiety during pregnancy. There is definitely meds that are safe to take. Just talk to your foc about it. I am 15 weeks now with #3 and have taken anxiety meds 2 of 3 pregnancies. I needed it on my first but didnt ask my doctor and didn't realize that i could take something.

Congrats on the pregnancy, that's great!  Lots of people have anxiety.  Please talk to your ob/gyn about it.  They can guide you.  Some women do take medication during pregnancy for anxiety.  They do a risk/ benefit ratio for what is best for the mama and the baby.  Other things to try are exercise which naturally releases a stress relieving hormone and getting extra rest.  Deep breathing such as square breathing---  breath in for four, hold four, breath out for four and breath out for four.  But do talk to your doctor about this and perhaps talk therapy would also help right now if you are not currently in therapy.  good luck hon and stay in touch
