Scan due date off by weeks?!

Hi all,

So I was very late finding out about my pregnancy (medications I've been on for the past 12 months made things pretty impossible to tell)  and recently had my first scan. I went to my scan with a guesstimate of 30weeks from my midwife (based on fundal height) only to be told I'm nearer 34.

I'm almost positive about my midwifes guess being more correct than the scan (due to conception dates - we didn't have sex much at all at the time of conception! Sorry about TMI). Is it possible that I'm just carrying a large baby for her gestational age? I've read about LGA, and I don't suffer from anything that would cause it, apart from weight gain in prenancy (though I'm pretty small framed and didn't even show until the last 5 weeks or so). I've looked at the growth charts and the measurements from the scan fit within the upper quartiles for a 30/31 week baby, so it's plausible.

I've spoken to a friend that's a nurse and she said that it might suit them to say I'm 34weeks rather than large at 30 so that they don't have to induce me or let me suffer the implications of delivering an LGA baby.

I know at the end of the day baby will arrive when she's ready, I guess I'm just worrying that I could be induced sooner than necessary, but anyone that can relate to this/has heard of this could you get in touch please? I need to put my mind at rest!

Thanks!

I'm entirely sure when I conceived, but obviously the hospital don't have anything to go on, so their average 34week measurements of BD and FL and HC and all that jazz might make sense to them, but don't to me!

Got another scan booked for two weeks after the one in discussion, so maybe they can reassess, or maybe they'll be stubborn and stick to their guns!

Your ultrasound can either go two weeks earlier or two weeks later. But some people just naturally have big babies. I have 4 boys and pregnant with my 5th and with my previous pregnancies they were all really big ranging from 8lbs 13oz to 10lbs 5oz and my ultrasounds were always off a Lil bit. U could have a big baby if ur pretty positive of your conception date
