Starting to dilate....

Today I'm exactly 36wks and I went to my doc appt and baby is head down and I'm 2 centimeters! I'm getting excited and nervous as this it's my first pregnancy. My mother is coming into town in a week to be here while I'm in labor, it's her first granddaughter. How much longer do you think it will be before this baby is really ready to come out? I just can't go into hair before my mom is right here with me....

And I was a ftm with my daughter and was in labor for only four hours. Everyone say your first child is the hardest and longest but that wasn't the case for me

Any baby born before 37 weeks is premature. Full term is actually 37 and more. I had my daughter at 38;weeks that's full term. Don't worry he/she is not premature.

I'm on my 3rd pregnancy. And I've been dilated 2 cm for 3 weeks and my baby has been head down and in position for over a month. Some women can stay like this for past there due date some can go at any minute. I'm 37+2 weeks so you could deflee still have a while left.

How long did you walk in order to speed up your dilation?

I was 1 cm and 50% effaced when I was 36 weeks.
I went to the hospital at 38+3 and was 4 cm. I walked for an hour and was 6 cm dilated.
It really just depends on your body! It was my first baby :)

You could stay 2cm dialated and still have to be induced at 42 weeks. There is no telling and dialating already does not mean anything.

Since it's your first it can take awhile, some people can stay that little bit of being dilated for a couple more weeks. They're gonna want to keep baby in for a little longer if it's possible cause you would be 4 weeks premature. Baby needs as much time as possible to marinate especially for the lungs. You could also go into labor quickly, just depends on your body. Good luck!
