In no way did I mean to be rude or uncaring, I just gave you a rough summary of what the hospital l&d told me in that situation, over a year ago, sorry if I didn't quote them word for word. I also didnt mean you shouldn't have told them you are pregnant. I meant after they checked on baby, you could have waited to be seen in the regular e.r for stomach pains and of course mention your pregnant and get to the bottom of it. They told me I couldn't sit in l&d when my baby was ok, because I wanted more testing. They should have told you you had that option.
I went in for the same thing last night. They hooked me up to the monitor, no contractions. They also checked me cervix and took labs and gave no an IV for the pain. What hospital was it?
I'd call the OB who you regularly see. I think you'd be safe to wait for an appointment since you're not in labor at the moment. Definitely wanna get to the bottom of it though! Although it's likely just round ligament pain....it suuuucks
@Lizzie....ikr...the nurse I dealt with for the 5 min visit says that they only check urine for fluid and if the doc wanted more testing they would have to send to the lab...so I wasn't checked for infections...I ddnt even see the doc at all...I'm highly upset about this...I feel disregarded...woke up to back pains and burning in stomach...will be going to a different hospital and getting a second opinion... And if I find out something is wrong, pregnancy related or not,I will be taking legal actions on that hospital...thanks for the concern love...
Ugh that just blew me..."if baby is OK and yu not contracting then they know its not life threatening to yu or baby"...smh really!?!
I didn't ask to be wheeled to labor and delivery but when going to the emergency room in pain I will most def mention my pregnancy... Who wouldn't??? My thing is as I stated before they did no further testing...it may not be pregnancy related but how would yu know what is causing the pain if yu don't check or do a process of elimination....I didn't go in saying "oh I'm pregnant and think I'm contracting" my exact words were "I've been having off and on stomach and back pains for 2 almost 3 weeks, I'm 20 weeks pregnant"...had I not told them I was pregnant right away they may have given me meds I should not take or xrays for that matter....trust it can happen...I went into the hospital that is 5 mins away from me for pain I knew wasn't pregnancy related and told the guy who checked me in I was pregnant... Got to the back and doc was about to give me this strong narcotic...had my guts not told me to ask if it was safe during pregnancy I might would have miscarried cause his exact word were"aww man I'm glad yu told me that"...wtf I mentioned that to the nurse who took my vitals and temp...how come that's not already documented (which is why I don't like that hospital).... So in my opinion they could have checked thoroughly as Lizzie said...yu never know...OK baby is OK so now let's see what itcould be that is causing this pain for yu...for that crap they did i would have rathered waited in regular waiting room but again I wasn't given or asked that option and at the time how would I know its not pregnancy related!!! Smh
I know its scary, and I also was frantic when the same happened to me. So I asked and they said thats the standard, they checked heartbeat, checked for contractions and for amniotic fluid.. what else can they check for? They know the baby is ok and your not in labor so its probably not baby related or life threatening to you or baby. You couldve waited in the regular waiting room to be seen for stomach pains. It almost sounds like a gallbladder attack.. does the pain just suddenly go away? Has it happened before?
That's ridiculous. You should go somewhere else if continues. I agree with you they didn't even bother to fully check you. I went to the hospital at 25 weeks for pains and they hooked me to the monitor, got urine, drew blood, did me an ultrasound, and even checked me for dilation. The monitor is to see the cramping and all.. The urine to look for infections. The blood to look for other things like anemia and such. The ultrasound for the baby and so on.
I'm cool with that being all it is IF all efforts were exhausted... But just to check contractions does not eliminate any other potential problems if there are any...God forbid and like I said...my mind is not at ease when I wasn't examined thoroughly
Right...and this is supposed to be the best hospital in our city...always had good service with them..its a ways away but never minded the drive...never dealt with labor and delivery and now second guessing having my baby there...for that crap I could have went to the one 5 mins(literally) away from me...smh
My stomach has a burning sensation now!!
Honestly they did just what needed to be done. Doing the urine test makes sure your water wasnt leaking, and checked for contractions. The pains are normal, your starting to carry alot of weight.
That was a terrible hospital to go to! If the pain continues I suggest you go to a different hospital. So basically it was a waste of time going there smh I would be livid too!
