anyone take nitrofurantoin for uti

My doc prescribed it after doing a urine test said there was lukretcokes? In my urine and sent it for culture. She said it wasn't definitely a uti but wanted to treat if it was. I've had a backache the last few days and have had cloudy urine. Hope it clears up but I've have no burning or anything :/

Take the antibiotics. I think your doctor probably said leukocytes, which are white blood cells indicating an infection. Cranberry juice can help but it will not cure the infection.

Thing is also if you already have a uti you'll need antibiotics to help it. The juice and things help prevent it, but doesn't mean you won't get one. I hope you feel better soon.

Yep all along my lower back. Hurt like crazy. It'll take about a day after you start taking antibiotics for the pain to start to go. Take some paracetamol they are fine during pregnancy. If you have a shower I let the water hit my lower back, that helps also a yoga ball can help ease the pain. Yeah a friend of mine was drinking cranberry juice and it didn't work, she went on to the supplements which can be costly, but like she said better than having uti's all the time. X

I've had 3 uti's now with no burning at 23 weeks though I did have horrible back pain. In fact so bad I though i was goin into preterm labour.  But since I've started taking cranberry supplements (I hate cranberry juice) I've had no problems. I hate having to take antibiotic and I'm hoping to keep the uti's away as when I had my first I had one and it cause me complications. So I suggest cranberry sauce, or juice, or tablets :)
