birth story! ftm

So yesterday I was making breakfast and felt a trickle run down my leg. I had an appt with my ob an hour later so I just waited to bring it up since I didn't think it was my water. Turns out it was and was told to go to l&d within the hour. Thought it was another false alarm so I called my husband so we could take one car and ate a sandwich and went to the hospital. Checked in at 230 pm 3cm 80% (been that way for weeks now). I did Indeed have leakage of fluid so they kept me and officially admitted me at 645 pm. Around 730 pm is when the pain started. I asked for an epidural, and of course there was 3 emergency c sections that took place before I was able to receive it. So I labored on my own from 645 until 1230 am when they came and gave me pain med to tie me over thru my iv (didn't help just made me feel spaced out still felt everything) finally at 245 am I was at 5cm and dying lol but I wasn't screaming and hollering like some of the other women here but it was intense( the screaming really scared me lol). They gave my epidural at 330 am and I was able to sleep for about an hour after. I woke up nauseous and threw up and low and behold my water fully breaks on the bed. I was given pitocin to get me to active labor (6cm) and everything went quickly after that.  I was at 9cm by 630 and the doctor checked at 7 am and said I was ready to go just felt like I needed to tmi poop uncontrollably. At 720 I was starting to push and my son was born at 734 am. 5 pounds 15 ounces 18 inches long. I was 37+5. Once his head was out he slid right out. I needed one stitch wich I didn't feel and we did skin to skin for an hour. I didn't have a problem with the placenta of course because of the epidural. He is doing great and we will be discharged after his circumcision tomorrow as long as everything is still ok. It still doesn't feel real. I am in love all over again to my husband's minion. Lol I was terrified of delivery and even cried just before because I was overwhelmed but he is here and it's over. My doctors and nurses where great talked me and my husband thru everything. You can do it mommas, this first time mom is proud! (Note the epidural did hurt but the relief was worth it. And I was walking around l&d by 1 pm of course after my families well deserved nap lol) if you all have any questions let me know I'm not leaving the forum because there has been so much helpful advice

thank you so much for your story! And congratulations on your baby. I'm so scared of labor. I'm a first time mom also, due in July. I plan on getting an epidural too.

The epidural stings but the relief right after is worth it. My husband held my hand and rubbed my face (I cried since I'm scared of needles) and it was over after about 2 minutes. Had full relief and only felt the tightening from the contractions. The epidural only takes away the sharp pain I still felt pressure but that was ok. And that pressure when it got intense helped me push. I didn't go to any classes or anything I just listened to my doctors and nurses and they talked me thru it.
