c section recovery

Im having an elective c section in 20 days and I'm really nervous about it. I had my first c section 3 yrs ago but it wasn't planned or anything. So know I don't know what to expect this time around. I'm also getting my tubes tied, so I don't know if that's going to make the recovery time worst. any advice?

Oh and at the hospital I'm going to they want you up moving around 12hrs after your c section. I'm not saying jog around the hospital but the more you can stand to be up moving the easier it is and the faster you will heal. Also the walking helps you pass gas and that first bm. With my 2nd I was up and showered took my baby to the nursery went down to the cafeteria and everything. I did move like a turtle but it helps. And that first night if you need help call your nurse that's her job to help you and help you with the baby.

They give you a time to be there. Mine was 5am. So they do all your paperwork hook you and baby up to monitors do your Iv. By 6:45am I was getting my epidural. Dr started my c section at 7am and by 7:31am I met my daughter. Then I was put back together and back in my room with baby by 8am. All in all its not that bad it's fast and just hurt less. I think it's cause my body knew what to expect the 2nd time around so it made it easier.

For me the 2nd c section was alot less painful and I recovered faster. It's better when it's planed its so much easier. I'll be having my 3rd c section in 2weeks I hope it goes as well as my 2nd did. Good luck!!!!

I guess the first bowel movement has been bad for everyone. I think I'm gonna start eating/drinking things to avoid constipation from now on

Take the pain meds being in pain hinders the healing process! Recovery is not fun take it slow but you have to move and such. The pain meds help to allow movement. Stool softener helps too. I found that having a small pillow or towel pressed on my incision while pooping or even going pee helped so much.

I just had one on tuesday night...it was a emergency so i didnt have timd to prepare. To me the med wore off while i was sitting in recovery which was horrible. Didnt get anymore till after recovery process was over. She was born at 10:26 i didnt see her till around 1:30 and then i only seen her for a few minutes and could barely hold her. I got released from the hospital on the 10th at noon. At that time i was up moving very slowly and in pain my first bowel movement was that bad and still isnt. Today the 11th i have yet to take pain meds but i have thought about it.

I've always kept my babies in the room with me. So letting the nurses take to the nursery its not something that I want to do. But I guess I'm gonna have to this time around

At the hospital I delivered at, the nurses said they like to take the baby at night because I wouldn't be able to get up and help baby quick enough if she started to choke in her little bassinet. They would bring her to me for feedings

They will get you up moving on the 2nd day. If your by yourself I'm positive they will have someone come help you until you can safely walk. As far as lifting him my Dr said I could pick up my baby but nothing heavier. So baby but not baby in the car seat and such. Hopefully maybe a family member or close friend can come stay with you a few nights. Your going to need a lot of help!

No. Neither the stool softener or the pain meds will have an effect on baby. And the first day i remember just staying in bed and bonding with baby

The first week after surgery is the hardest because it is the core of the healing process. Make sure to take all the stool softener and pain meds they give you. Trust me you'll need both. And the first bowel movement after surgery was the worst part for me, but everyone is different.  Overall, it wasn't a bad experience with my first which was an emergency c-section. But i was informed that scheduled c-sections are different as they take their time making sure you are completely prepared for surgery.

I was in the hospital for 4 days and now at home I am very sore. Make sure you take it easy for the first 2 weeks. Your going to want to get up and move but don't try to be super mom, you will need lots of help and sleep. They will give you pain meds which if breastfeeding will not harm the baby as long as taken as prescribed. That's about it, if you have specific questions ladies let me know and I'll try my best to respond.

(Sorry) I didn't get to see my family or really even feel awake enough to hold my baby til around 10:30. I had a spinal block which was bad at all and it did completely numb my body. I could feel people pulling and pushing me but no pain at all. I was awake during the procedure and the worst part that no one prepared me for was the itching. Something in the spinal or one of the other medication made my face itch so bad I couldn't stand it. The tech near my head had to keep rubbing my face with a cotton swab because your not allowed to move your arms once they start. My fiancĂ© was seated at my head and held my hand and when my son came out they allowed him to take photos but not before. He wasn't allowed to cross the sterile barrier which is the green sheet they set up in front of your head. I did feel a lotof ppressure in my chest right before they delivered my son but again no pain. After they check him over they send dad and baby to the standby recovery room and they start closing you up. I actually fell asleep during this part because I was given a shot of benadryl because I was itching so bad. Doesn't really help by the way lol  My recovery wasn't too bad although they had to catchmy bladder 3 times bbecause I couldn't pee on my own after surgery which I was told isn't common but not unheard of when some women are cathed for the surgery. You are numb when they insert it right before surgery but may feel them remove it if your spinal wears off as quickly as mine did.
