c section v/s vaginal birth

I m 19 weeks today.. wow!!! Reached the half way mark.the major issue bothering me now is if I have to undergo c- section Wat will it be like? I have kept hearing from my relatives n friends that its always better to have a vaginal birth. But Wat if I have to undergo c- section( due to so many unforseen issues) how different is it from vaginal birth. As in the pros n cons of both. Can u ladies shed some light on it?

I was dead set against a c-section but at 11 days late and not hitting even two cm after over 24 hoursof induced labor, I went for it. The cord was wrapped around his foot and ankle so it ended up being for the best. If there's one thing I learned from my pregnancy, it's that you can plan all you want but sometimes things don't go as planned. Now I'm happy knowing I will have this baby as a repeat cesarean at 39 weeks.

You should do kegel exercises well before you get pregnant (it makes sex feel better)... no you don't have to consult your doctor in order to start doing them. .. I started kegels when I was like 18...

I was going for a natural birth, but my daughter was breech and I didn't have a choice. The c-section wasn't bad at all, took two weeks to recover fully. I was scared out of my mind for surgery, but when it's the only way, you have to toughen up and go along for the ride because that baby is still coming! Either way, try to go for natural and unless something tells the Dr. otherwise, then stick with natural.

Kegals kegals kegals! And just keep yourself in shape. Walking and squatting are good. Honestly some of the reasons for c section aren't preventable, but if you and your doc/midwife are on the same page you'll have a more realistic idea of your chances of c section from something like 'prolonged labor' versus a breech birth versus fetal distress.

However I would like to point out if I do have to have a csection every time it will not change .y mind about how many babies I want.Mine was not a good experience but its not like it lasts forever.

My csection did not go well and I had to be put completely under (I won't go into what happened that I had to go completely under-long story) so it was about 2 hrs later that I got to see my daughter. I had a spinal headaches for a week and I was very sore. My incision was infected and ended up ripping open (like an inch! Not the whole thing) took 3 weeks to not be in so much pain. Everyones experience is diff. I know a lady that felt great after 4 days (not healed, just didn't hurt) granted the issues I had during the csection only happen to few like 2%. Now I am looking into vbac (vaginal birth after csection) not every clinic does it but I would rather not have csections every time.

Well dont get a c section unless your doctor advises you. Thats mpre for an emergency situation. I`d saywait and see what your doctor says

Vaginal birth is all I can really talk about because it's all I've experienced!
Pros: a quicker recovery
possible protection from cervical cancer (not sure if it's from labor itself or the actual delivery, it's ongoing research as far as I know)
possible to avoid pain meds during birth, which leads to a more alert baby and less trouble with nursing
Minimal physical trauma: a lot of women don't even tear, so you'll feel better quicker!

Cons: prepare to wear diapers for a while (my friend that had a csection said she was allowed to use tampons for the post natal flow, lucky girl!)
If you tear, sex is gonna be painful for a while (really depends on how bad you tear though)

That's all I can think of at the moment!
