I don't know if the castor oil had anything to do with it but I was starting to dilate enough to get a membrane sweep today. Fingers crossed!!
I tried it at 39 weeks and was effaced and dialated and all it did was give me HORRIBLE diarrhea.
I don't recommend it. Lol but I've also hearts out work for some people.
How much are you supposed to take?
I did it with my son. I was 39+5 and took it after dinner time. He was born at 4:22 pm the following day. I did end up having loose stools, but only had that one bowel movement. So it wasn't awful like other people have experienced.
I took it and it worked twice. I took it before being induce the other three times because I had induction schedule and had been constipated. If you are thinning and starting to dialate it normally works but you need to take it correctly, not enough will do nothing for you and too much will give you diarrhea.
*are effective. Meaning they don't work
Castor oil is tricky- some people say that it has helped but only if they were already showing signs of labor. Most reports I have heard and read is that all it did was make them dehydrated and give them diarrhea. Labor is hard enough without that! And in fact there is little to no proof that any of the old wives tales are not effective.
I have a glass made in front of me but think Im too scared to try it lol
