I was like that too. I found out I was prego at 4wks but they wouldn't see me until I was 9wks. I think its because there is nothing that can be done at that stage if it isn't viable. Just relax and wait til then. If after that, they aren't helpful then get another doctor.
Im in Australia too. I had my first doctor appt at 7 weeks. They sent me to a pathologist for full blood tests and Even though I had dates from my LMP they still sent me for a scan to get an accurate measurement. Even if you cant get in for a few weeks, the first thing I would still do is get some folic acid tablets xx good luck and keep us posted.
The ob office I'm going to with this pregnancy doesn't see patients until 8wks but with my previous three kids I just went to a family practice and was seen at about 4 or 5 wks. If you have choices in your area and aren't comfortable waiting that long you should call around and find out how soon each office is willing to start prenatal visits. You don't have to schedule an appointment right then. They should be willing to discuss their prenatal policies over the phone.
To be honest theres nothing a doctor is gonna do that first day besides confirm your pregnancy, give you a pelvic exam and if you were unsure of your dates they miiiiight giveyou an uultrasound! If there were a problem this early on and it were even detectable there's nothing a doctor can really do so early. They might say take it easy but miscarriage is so mysterious effecting 1 out of 6 pregnancies. Its really in the lap of the gods at that point.
This is just what my doctor told me. My doctor wouldn't see me until at the very least 8 weeks. I got no ultrasound. No heartbeat since it was too early.
By 10 weeks they'll be able to hear the heartbeat and do a little more then just say "yep you're pregnant". I know youre nervous but take it from a 3rd timer here....pretty soon you'll feel like you live at the doctors.
Also lack of symptoms isn't bad at all. With my first I felt great. I had no morning sickness. No cramps. Just a bit of sore boobs. Shes 8 yrs old today. So don't worry about that.
Stress free is the way to be. Enjoy it! Congrats!
Many doctors will not see you right away, but instead wait until at least 8 weeks. At that point they can do a better assessment of the fetus. The not knowing can be very frustrating, but before you know it you will feel like you live at the doctors office. As for the pregnancy symptoms, each pregnancy is different. With my second I had no symptoms at all, it was a nice easy first trimester. With my first and this pregnancy I had horrible morning sickness and fatigue. Try to relax and enjoy the next 8 months. Congratulations!
My doctor wouldn't see me until I was 12 weeks. They wouldn't even schedule an appointment until I was 10 weeks. Don't worry.
In Oz I got my first OB appointment at early 5weeks. One missed period and a positive pee test was enough. If I was told to wait I would've gone to another doc for sure. I wanted and needed peace of mind!
I am 9 weeks and my first appnt is at 10weeks and 5 days. Its not even for a scan. Thats not til 12 weeks 5 days. There r a little slow here in uk.
I'm 5 weeks and 2 days according to online calculator. I have an appt next week. For now I'm just taking pre natal vitamins. Maybe you can call another doctor n just ask.
Also enjoy being pregnant! Relax and don't stress. If you have questions b4 getting to your doctor we are here and will answer your questions best we can. And cramping is normal in the beginning. Your uterus is stretching and the baby is implanting so that where that comes from. But both bleeding and cramping at the same time or within the same day is bad so if you start bleeding go to the er. I cramp all the time but there is no bleeding going on.
My boyfriend and I had been trying for a baby. We lost on this past June but were pregnant again 2 months later. I found out at 4 weeks and my office doesn't see patients until minimum 8 weeks. Even if havibg a prior miscarriage bc they are more common than we think. I'd say your apt date is normal. Each doctor has their own way of doing things and there is no set way to start things. Now if you had no idea when your last period was and didn't know how far along you are then I'm sure they would bring you in sooner.
Mine wouldnt see anybody till past 8 weeks. It drove me crazy to. I finally saw the doctor at 9 weeks. And I didn't have one prego symptom till 9 weeks. That's when my nausea started. If your super concerned find a different doctor who will see you sooner. I wish you good luck!
I didn't go thru any of the "normal" symptoms with this pregnancy either. And it's not unusual for your dr's appt to be a few weeks away. Don't worry. I know it's easier said than done. Get lots of rest, drink plenty of water and limit your caffeine. Good luck.
Some docs like to wait till u have missed at least two periods because of the chance of miscarriage. I u could be one of the lucky ones and skip all the other horrible pregnancy symptoms. Try not to stress because that isn't good for u or the baby
You might want to get a different doctor, if you feel that way. Am currently 5w5d and have my first appointment next week 6w4d....changed my doc because the one I had with my daughter did a membrane sweep without my consent..
