dogs and pregnancy

So I have a pit bull & cha-wennie & a terrier poodle mix. They seem to be more clingy than normal. Pit sleeps at my feet the other 2sleep on or touching my baby bump. They follow me every where!!! I can't use the bathroom/shower without them following me in there!! Are they sensing something that I don't know about? My dogs never ever acted like this before.

Yes cats sense pregnancy as well, they are more sensitive to the hormone changes than dogs.

I'm 15 weeks and I don't notice any difference with my dog. I wonder if she even realizes! Maybe I have to be further along for her to sense it.

I was also wondering if dogs could sense that your pregnant I just found out and am only 5weeks 4 days but my dog has been especially clingy to me lately and was wondering what was up as she's usually a bigger daddy suckso good to know I wasn't imagining it...think she knows already :)

Your little pack is taking note now that you're with baby. They wanna be there to protect you. My Jack Russell became SUPER clingy before she passed away in March. She would even alert me to when I left the stove on. My snake even acted different around me till she got used to the new smell and heat. My new dog is just now catching on, acting really clingy and protective of me and wont leave me alone. Pack animals do this, and I wouldnt worry that something is or will be wrong. They just love their mom and want to help her. :)

Its only been this week that they started acting like this. I'm 31&2 today... Kinda scares me a lil bit like something is going to happen.

they can smell the baby or pregnancy, it is instinctual to  protect the weaker members of the pack.

my dog still hasn't noticed, but she does enjoy staying in bed longer in the mornings.

when the baby is born, be sure to have someone take the very first blanket they wrap the baby in home to the dogs - so they get used to the scent. the first one usually has some blood from the after birth on it, so good string smell.
