There are indeed studies that show epidural & medicated births block brain receptors in mommy. This means you would miss out on the "chemical cocktail" that Is released with natural vaginal births. This chemical reaction effects mother& baby bond, also a common cause of PP depression.
I recommend doing a lot of research. Make the best decision for you.there are so many outlets to look into. So many studies have been done on all forms of birth. But the way I see it. If you have a healthy pregnancy, this is what us women are made for! I wouldn't miss out on that chemical experience for anything! Good luck!

I'm 33 weeks with my first. I'm already having some seriously sharp pains that are supposedly "painless" BH contractions. (Which is a lie. They are so painful it brings me to tears) I know without a doubt I will be getting an epidural. I think pregnancy has become a competition where ladies do it "natural" just to brag about it later. Its like the mom with the hardest/longer labor gets the most mommy points. I think its stupid. Having a vaginal birth is still "natural" whether you get the epi or not. I have seen no proven research that isn't opinion that shows getting an epi makes any difference on the baby. You might tear if you push too hard because you can't feel what is happening, but your doctor should direct you in that so you don't. I think its silly to not get meds if they are available just so you can say that you did. Just my opinion.

U can not decide until your in mid labour because you can't prepare yourself for the pain! I did natural but at 10cm I was begging for epidural!!! Haha see how it goes and have an open mind, it depends how ypu handle pain/how fast and painful your labour is, it would be amazing if we could possibly have an insight to the uncontrollable pain lol but unfortunately we have to wait and see. It was nit as painful as people made out in my opinion but this one may be different

I'm 5 weeks pp I've done both this last time I did natural and it was amazing. My bf wants 1 more kid so I'll be going natural again. The only way I'd be getting the epi is if I'm in labor over 12 hrs with no progression. The epi can help you relax to let your body progress

I have done a lot of research on natural vs. medicated births and have decided that natural is the right choice for me. There is a lot of information out there that supports the idea that a natural birth tends to be better for both mom and baby - IF they are healthy enough for it!

I truly believe that every woman has the right to choose her own labor and delivery path, however, and for some people, a natural delivery just isn't in the cards. At the end of the day, it is all about making sure both mom and baby are healthy and safe.

Either way, I really recommend making a birth plan - that way your doctor and all of the nurses etc know your wishes, and can help support you, no matter what you choose!

I'm gonna brace it as much as possible. Best feeling and to say you have experienced the pain of a blessing. But it depends on how the Labour is a lot of people have a really quick Labour with not much pain. But that is my plan hope it helps a bit
