I had my flu shot at 12 weeks. My Dr told me to and I see a specialist since I'm carrying twins. It benefits you and the baby or babies (:

I think its a must. But get the one specifically for pregnant ladies. There are ingredients in the regular one that we shouldn't have according to my Dr. I had it 4 days ago and deep fine. Arm was a little sore but that's shots for you...

I was told not to get it once pregnant.  I chose my doctor though, because I choose to live a very natural organic lifestyle and wanted someone who could be honest about risks regarding western medicine and not just be the average doctor who is privileged western medicine (pain killers, vaccines, etc) No matter what there ARE risks. Maybe not common ones but their are so you need to make your own choice whether it's worth it or not. My in laws tried to talk me into it and I told them a point blank that I will NOT get the flu shot period. They seem more concerned about their future grandchild than me at all hahaha

Hey, I got mine and developed Bell's palsy two weeks later which is a side effect of the flu shot and common this year. That being said it has subsided and I'm still happy I got it for the baby but not pregnant never again! That was my first and last flu shot!

Also you can get vaccination with cold only thing they won't vaccinate you if you would have higher temperature.

I had my flu shot 2 weeks ago. No problems, just a sore arm but that's to be expected as it goes into the muscle. They don't give pregnant women the live virus vaccine so you can't be ill from it. What some people don't realise is that it takes 2 weeks to become immune so when people get ill in this time they blame the vaccine. It's best to get it as soon as possible. Take care :)

Nope no problems for me with either the flu vaccine or TDAP- other than a sore arm. The flu vaccine is not a live virus so you will not get the flu from it, contrary to what some people will say. As a nurse I fully recommend both as protection for you and baby.

I was about to ask the same, but I am almost 9 weeks. I currently have a cold or something so it made me wonder about getting my flu shot (I've never had one before)

I got that and the tdap/whooping cough. I was fine just my arms were a little sore from the shots. They had explained to me getting the shot benefits you and the baby more then hurts you, if you were to get sick. They also build up a immunity as well before they are born. That's what the nurse told me. So I got it.
