gender @ 17w6d..?!!

so after our appointment yesterday, I'm even more anxious to know what our little pumpkin is going to be!!
he/she even had his/her legs closed.. so even IF we could have found out, it was next to impossible obviously.

my question is, my next OB appt. is on the 22nd & I'll be 17w6d.. IF the baby allows us to see, will the official boy or girl answer be set in stone?! has anyone gotten a definite boy or girl confirmation at almost 18 weeks, or should I not buy any pink or blue based on that ultrasound? if not, I know my next appointment will be 4 weeks later @ 21w6d, but geeeeez I don't want to wait that long! "/

thank you ladies for everything, please keep us in your prayers!!
come onnnn October!!! (((: ❤

Yes ! I went for my first ultrasound at 16 weeks n the lady told me it was 80% chance its a boy but to come back in a week to have an ultrasound technician check the baby n confirm its gender. And at 17weeks 3 days it was confirmed a boy.

With McKayla (4 years ago) I found out at 13 weeks and it was confirmed at 20 weeks. .. with this baby (Emily) we found out at 15 weeks and confirmed at 18... had your shy baby not crossed his/her legs you would have been able to find out... hoping that baby cooperates in a few weeks :)

well my OB hasn't said anything to me yet about whether or not to have a full bladder when I come in, but then again she doesn't have to.. she sees me with a bottle of water, OJ, or apple juice when I walk in so.. my bladder stay pretty full either way lol

@bebe5709: yeah, I was hoping 18 weeks would be good enough!! gosh, I'm praying.. and yes, my parents were surely surprised with my brother.. they didn't expect to be able to see anything on the ultrasound lol!

@kitty984: well that's good to know! considering I'll be 1 day shy of 18 weeks! & it definitely sounds like you have a sports fanatic in your belly already!!! lol

I think it's crazy everyone says they had to have full bladders. I never had to have a full bladder for any of my scans. It was always a comfortable experience.

Yep I was 18 wks with the first one. This time around I waited until 20 wks coz I wasn't sure if I wanted it to be a surprise but I was hoping for a girl and had my heart set on a girl but blessed with another boy who likes to do soccer, boxing and acrobatics inside.

I only had 1 scan and it was at 20 weeks. Anatomy and gender. I would think at 17 you would be able to see the gender fairly well as long as baby cooperates. My little guy let it all hang out so I would have been disappointed if I was going for a surprise baby lol.

I've heard about that, but I never mentioned it to my OB.. never questioned it for some reason. I guess I just wanted to find out the old-fashioned way? lol!

thinking back now, I probably would have had it done at my 1st appointment if I could have!

Many point of the test is to check for genetic abs chromosomal disorders, but it is easy to do gender at the same time

My cousin got a blood test at week 9 (this was in March) they separated her cells from the babies and she found out gender at week 11!
It is a very new test. I think it is still experimental as part of the prenatal screening program they do here, CA.
That test was not available with her first two years ago.

I drank orange juice and my baby moved just enough. Was able to get all the measurements and see the gender.

They usually want you to have a full bladder for the ultrasound. And then they push on you and make you have to pee even more, hahaha

I felt like I was going to pee too! Especially when the lady was trying to get all the pictures she needed. With my first one he was kicking my bladder so he made it worse. This time around the lady had to tap on my belly a few times to get him to turn.

With this baby I found out at 14 weeks then reconfirmed at 17 & 18 weeks. At 17 weeks I seen my son's private before they even said it was a boy lol
