has anyone tried natural ways to induce labor?

I am 38weeks 3days and the dr gave the go ahead to try to induce labor at home  because baby seems big and gave some suggestions. He suggested sex, walking a lot and peppermint tea.  Its 16degrees outside so walking is out of the question but tried walking up and down the stairs a few times. What has everyone tried that seemed to work?

I would go to the mall or Walmart or somewhere to walk. Lots and lots of sex - semen softens cervix. I heard spicy food. Peppermint tea. I've heard if you bounce on a yoga ball.

Acupuncture or reflexology can do a lot to ripen the cervix, I would try those. Eating dates is good for upping oxytocin levels which encourage labour - 6 dates each day for the last 4 weeks is supposed to be really effective.

Google accupressure points to induce labor. It works within a day or two.

Rasbery leaf tea helps your uterus start contacting. Also I got a long (60min) deep foot massage at a pedicure and my water broke next morning.

My OB swept my membrane at 38 weeks, I ask at your next apt.

My OB suggested nipple stimulation too it helps signal your body to start.
Good luck!

Wonder why the dr didn't do a membrane sweep?  It's 50/50 but half a chance is better than none at all.  My girls didn't want to come out, and had to be induced both times.  Nothing helped me.
