So soft cheeses from grocery store are okay? I LOVEEEE goat cheese but on the packaging I couldn't find anywhere it said pasteurized so I got scared.

The fear as I understand it is the possible bacteria in the cheese. Pasteurisation kills it. I went out and chowed down on tons of goat cheese in my first trimester and then someone told me it was bad (before I knew myself.) Asked my ob and she said it was all fine if pasteurized, no worries.

Yep! All pasteurized cheeses are safe - even if they are soft. :)

Thanks! That helps a ton. I take it pasturized brie is safe then, too? I have some of both and wanted to snack on them.

As long as its pasteurised its OK. Which applies to the majority of regular grocery cheeses. If you get into farmers market cheeses or fancy restaurant cheeses or homemade cheeses they may not be.

Oh I was in the same boat. I had eaten a bunch of goat cheese and randomly read after that it was a no no during pregnancy. I told my ob and she said it's fine to eat Bc it's all pasteurized.
