With my first I went back after 6 weeks unpaid. This time I'll be out for 12 weeks paid at 70%. What a difference getting my degree made in my job benefits!!

FMLA grants you 12 weeks unpaid leave without threat of losing your job or position. After that the company can do what they want.

I'm in California and have a 5 yr old which I went back to work about 8 months after she was born I am now on my second baby and plan to stay home for about a year. Mind you, I work for an amazing company with an even more amazing boss who will hold my position for as long as I need. And he pays me.. but legally speaking here in US maternity leave *****.
