What would the situation have to be..

That does not let me breastfeed my baby? Aside from the baby not latching on, what situations happen to where mommy can't breastfeed baby.  I'm a ftm and I look forward to breastfeeding my baby boy. I think the bond between mom and baby is strong and important when mom breastfeed baby and im so scared I won't be able to for reasons I'm not aware of.

So if for whatever reason he does not latch on or I can't breastfeed for a while, I can pump and dump and give him formula in meantime?then try to get him on the boob again?

The key is to cluster feed from the start and then once your supply builds up then space it out between every 2-3hrs its not easy but the weight will fall off and baby will be happy DO NOT substitute with formula and you should be good;-) mother of

For me it took 2 wks until my bby finally latched on. Supposably thy told me that if she wudnt latch on soon I wudnt b able to breast feed I gave her formula while I keept on trying until finally it worked so if bbys fine no other complications dnt give up.

Anemia made me have low milk supply then I drankmy iron pills along with fenugreek pills to up my supply which worked wonders then found out my daughter had a tongue tie and it prevented her to latch on correctly and it made it painful for my so her doctor cut the underside of her tongue where it was tied and it was smooth sailing from there .

I had a severe uterine infection contracted during my son's delivery. we didn't catch it until two weeks after birth during which time I was breastfeeding my son. when I was given antibiotics, they were very strong and could cause bloody stools for my son. he went on formula and my plan was to pump and dump over the round of antibiotics. unfortunately, pumps don't stimulate as well as baby, and I couldn't keep up my supply. I was able to successfully breastfeed my second son, though and you're right that it really is a wonderful experience.

He was barely 3 lbs.I was.so sad I.couldnt starve him while I tried.to figure it.out so I.did.pump for a few wks but I'm going to do formula this.time.

I only breastfed my son for 6 weeks and I thought it was because he was so big (he was 10 lbs 3 oz at birth) and I wasn't making enough milk. But I think I honestly really didn't know what I was doing. It was ten years ago. I would just really study up on all the tips of breastfeeding so that if you come across any problems you don't give up like I did. I'm planning on breastfeeding this baby too and I'm going to learn more about it for the same reason.
