I'm incredibly excited. I had a med-free birth with my 9lb son - due to perineal massage, good positioning, and adequate perineal support I had no episiotomy or tearing - and though it was the hardest I've ever physically worked in my life it was perfectly tolerable and had the best reward imaginable. It hurt, it was hard, but I was never afraid. My body was built to do this. I trust my body, I trust my midwife (who would never ever have come near me with forceps, even though I pushed for three hours - what a traumatic way to be brought into the world that must be!!) and I trust my support system to be there for me through it all. Believing in yourself and your ability to birth your baby is incredibly helpful when it's time to actually do it. And telling yourself a zillion times that you can do it and that it's a natural and amazing process is a really good way to start to believe it.

I'm terrified of everything, before, during and after.  One of the reasons why I get irritated with women who tell me that being pregnant is fun.

I think am more nervous about recovery and how am going to feel afterwards and breastfeeding. I just hope am not so bad I cant care for my baby girl and I am praying breastfeeding goes well. Not to nervous about labor pain cause I will be getting the epidural. I am just gonna trust in my body it knows what to do. If there is problems Dr. will handle it. So am pertty calm in that sense. I am trying to stay positive, am also FTM.♡ Good luck to all mommas♡Best wishes♡

I'm not scared. I know that it will hurt like hell and be exhausting, but I get to see my little peanut afterwards! I plan on having a natural birth (no epidural or other pain medications). I think preparing mentally will help a lot. Also, if you're not getting an epidural, try squatting or being on all fours during pushing.... Anatomically, lying down during labor makes no sense... It gives the smallest possible pathway for the baby

Clairebabies use a soft pillow to sit on an get up the same way you did just days before giving birth. I was cut with my first, she was 6 lbs 1 oz. My second was 7 lbs 13 oz. I had no pain meds at all, the worst pain I've ever felt, but wouldn't exchange the pain for anything. I plan on no pain meds when I have this baby in March. Good luck ladies, no matter the pain it won't matter once you see your baby. :-)

Had my baby boy last week and I was more worried about the Drs wanting to use forceps on me... I talked/screamed at them when I was in labor n waiting for my epidural and told them I didn't like the idea of them using them seeing I had them the first time n I ripped with a 3lb 5oz baby so I know the forceps had something to do with the pain/healing process last time. This time they allowed up to 15 mins of me pushing before resorting to the forceps I only needed 7 mins and my baby boy was out. 6lbs 11oz and no tearing or cutting needed or forceps. Pressure in my tailbone is what made me hurt the worst! Good luck!!

I got my baby on Thursday. I didn't  use epidural. Hell,it was painful. But your baby worth it. The only thing I could reconsider was the episiotomy. I would have talked to my doctor try not to cut me if things could reverse as my baby was fairly small. Only 6 lbs 13 oz. The wound from episiotomy drives me crazy. I have trouble walking and sitting. The only thing I can do is to lie on bed. I feel like I m a prisoner...

I'm not scared of the pain or the pushing cause I don't know what to expect I do know it won't be a walk in the park but I'll get threw.  I hope I'm not being nieve.  This is not my first but might as well cause it's been 14 years.

I thought people were crazy when they would tell me once you see your baby you'll forget all the pain you were just in, but it was sort of true when I had my first child! I swear I freaked myself out so much that the actual pain wasn't as bad as I thought it could be! It was like period cramps from hell but I also didn't get an epidural until I was 8cm so I know a lot of girls that can get an epidural at 3 or 4cm which could make your experience better! And the pressure was the thing that got me the most.. I don't want to say it hurt but it was like trying to keep the baby in was horrible! The best feeling I had was when they told me I could finally let go and push which to me sounds funny because you'd think having a baby come out of you would hurt the most but being able to relieve the pressure felt amazing and promise it'll be worth it! It's like adrenaline and happiness that his baby you've been wanting to meet and dreamed about is finally there takes over and it'll be okay! :)

im extremely nervous too im scared about dealing with the pain and how bad it will be up until I get the epideral also after, I hear after it feels like a lot of pressure but I'm still nervous to experience what "pressure" actually is and how that might feel . I'm also nervous about the length of delivery and the aftermath and recovery. The whole thing sounds terrifying but I keep telling myself that if millions of moms have gone through this it can't be too too horrible especially if they've done it more than once
