hi Tayviababy,

U mentioned having had a myomectamy in 2012. Would you recommend to anyone? For now my doc says indeed nuttin to be done until after pegmancy. She explained that as of 3 to 6 months post preg they will re- examine my uterus to see how far they shrunk. Based on their size they would recommend further options. I read there are several ways to get rid of them both surgically as more non-invasive methods (medically as naturally with herbs etc). If i may ask, why did u choose the myomectamy?

On my very first pregnancy ultrasound they found out i have fibroids in my uterine wall near the bladder. My doctor told me that this common and not to worry. But i agree with all the above posts, it hurts a lot when they start degenerating during pregnancy. Two weeks back I had to rush to the ER because of the pain thinking that something was wrong.

Yup! I have the same problem. Several fibroids. I had a terrible abdominal pain a few wks ago and found out it was degenerating fibroids. I was really scared. The doctor says there is nothing they can due until the pregnancy is over. He assured me that usually fibroids don't interfere with the birth. In my case, I have a scheduled C section because I had a myomectomy in 2012 because of large fibroids. He doesn't want my uterus to burst. I'm so excited for this pregnancy. Currently, I'm 16+5! Don't worry. Stress will effect the baby more than the fibroids. But they may be painful to you if they start to die because of the limited medication we can take during pregnancy.

Sorry to hear we share the same misfortune. After finding out we were pregnant, at the 8-week sonogram they spotted a black mass of about 12 cm attached to my uterus. I was forwarded on to the hospital to do a thorough exam and found out there are several myomas/ fibroids inside of me. The biggest one which is about 12 by 10 cm is a cluster of fibroids on the outside and the smaller one of 6 by 8 cm is on the inside of my uterus. With all the risks explained to us we were devasted and soon after the abdominal pain started (when the fibroids are receiving less blood supply than usual they hurt like hell, kind of giving off the signal 'we're dying here') we were sure the pregnancy was about to end. They assured me that if i reach 26 weeks they'll do what they can to save the baby, not before 26 weeks.

I am thrilled to say we have reached 33 wks yesterday and in spite of all the complications and gazillion of pills i have to take daily to keep the pain under control, bubba is growing well and we have a good chance of delivering vaginally.

Did u know u had the fibroid(s) before getting pregnant? I did not and will never risk another pregnancy until those things are gotten rid of. The fact that u are past week 26 should give you a little comfort that ur baby is viable and has every chance of making it without complications. I wish the very best for you and ur little one. Keep strong! We're almost there!!
