scared. no baby in ultrasound

I had my first on appointment today. My  last period (Aug 31) was strange so I wasn't sure if it was even a period. So they went by the date of Aug 4th because that was a definite period. They did a transvaginal ultrasound guessing I was 8 weeks and couldn't see anything. No baby, no sac, and also no sign of ectopic pregnancy in either of my ovaries. Using the date of Aug 31 that would put me at 4 weeks and they said nothing typically shows up on a ultrasound that early. They also tested my hcg level. I have had no bleeding since my last period ended and no abnormal pain in my abdominal area. Just slight cramping. But I am still freaking out. Has anyone else had this happen?

This happened to me. I had my first ultrasound and 4-5 weeks. And it was so early the OB couldn't see anything I started crying and etc. But went back 1 week n half later and there was my baby . It was so tiny! Try to relax and not stress about it . good luck!

This is very common. When I had my first ultrasound they looked and looked and couldn't see anything. She told me to relax and after a couple deep breaths tried again. She found the baby that time but it was so little it looked like nothing to me.

That's so normal. That happened to me when I first found out I was pregnant. I was sick and went to the ER and was told I was pregnant. The ER Dr wanted to do a ultrasound and he was like no baby no heartbeat. I was like what??? I went to my OB like 2 weeks later and baby was a peanut by then. No worries and good luck.
