With my first I had to go natural because when I got to the hospital I was already 7-8 cm dilated so they wouldn't let me take anything for pain. But 4 hours later he was here and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. My sister had an epidural with her 5th and she regrets it. She said when it came time to push it didn't even work and now she has a lot of back pain. Hope this helps.

Epidural. Im having my 2nd baby in less than 2 weeks (being induced again)
It wouldnt be an option if it was harmful to the baby. Unless it REALLY means something to you to go through that pain, get the epidural.

The only reason I am questioning it is because I had a bad experience with the lady who did mine with my 1st she hit a nerve twice an I have back problems everyday since.

I'd really like to be natural an I've done it twice but tge last one was awful painful..... but my 1st I had an extremely bad experience with a epidural. So I was considering iv meds.

This is my first so I don't know, but my mom swears by an epidural. Her worked fine, she had no noticeable side effects and pain relief worked perfectly for her. That's not always the case for everyone so I think that's where the differing opinion comes from. I know I have a very low pain tolerance and even have a hard time relaxing for doctors to check my cervix or anything like that. I'm going epidural this first time but I am fascinated with water births and hope to be able to do that since my husband and I want to have a few children.

I was induced with my first and it was extremely painful I gave in at 4:30 and got epidural then gave birth at 6:30. I sometimes get back pain where the epidural was tho so wish I never got it. I am going to try this time without one. My partner thinks that is not going to happen tho :)

With my first I had the epidural because I had fallen and broke my tailbone so contractions and pushing wasn't easy.  My goal is to do natural this time around with my second. I think I would plan for natural and if pain gets too bad then don't be afraid to ask for the epidural
