I have 2 dogs, am 29 weeks pregnant and have a 3.5 year old. My dogs are a 2 year old miniature pinscher and a 9 month old great dane and I'm not getting rid of either of them, despite being allergic to the great dane. They are a part of my family and we couldn't imagine being without either of them, especially since my great dane got really sick and almost died of Parvo a few months ago. The dogs are fine to be around a newborn. If you plan on keeping them, make sure you treat them both for fleas. Another thing you dont want to do is keep rhe house completely quiet while baby is sleeping-- that will only make your baby a light sleeper and wake up for any little sound.

It's OK to have dogs around newborn... They just rather babies not be around cats more than anything... I think you should let the baby get use to the sounds... Shielding some babies from sound kind of makes it harder on yourself... It doesn't have to be super loud but you do want them to be OK with sleeping with sounds in the background...
