Check with your hospital too. Where I had my kids have a photographer there and does newborn shots before you leave the hospital.

True photographers recomend within the first week because infants will start to loose that curled up arms and legs fetal position after a few weeks. And many many self photographers will come to your home and do these pictures. So it can be very convieneint for you and easy for baby.

First off do them as soon as you can within the first week. And second don't go to jcpenny. Get a real self photographer who does it on their own and owns their own company. Those photos are always sooo much better but it also helps a small business. My sister is a pro photographer and her work is amazing compared to any sears or jcpenny

I normally go around 6 weeks or so.  But that time you can get a variety of facial expressions and the baby stays awake longer.

I dont believe there is a specific time when u can or cant. I could be wrong tho.  I would think its up to you and how soon you wanna bring your new baby out. I plan on doing family and newborn photos as well but i plan on waiting 4 to 6 weeks just because of germs and stuff.
