pitocin?

Hi any moms that were given pitocin? I did my last pregnancy and was wondering if that was one of the main reasons why I ended up having painful contractions like 10x worse? :O

I had the cervix pill and pitocin... it sucked. Plain and simple. And they kept me on pitocin for 3 days after i delivered i cannot remember why... i think to help shrink my uterus. My blood pressure was 220/170 when I delivered my daughter and I wasn't allowed to leave my bed. I think the pitocin made everything a lot more exaggerated than needed. Also the cervix pill is supposed to work within 4 to 6 hpurs. Mine was 4 hours to the minute! Those ob ladies know what they're doing!

The reason I got the cervidil is because my cervix wasn't thinning or dialating at all andni was already 10 days overdue. If you're thinning and dialating I'm wondering if they will still give it to you. Its a question I'll be asking my doc when I go in next for sure. Never even wondered about insurance though another great question I'll be looking into for sure.

Thank you so much finchette.  There is hope, lol!!!  If I can refrain from getting the Pitocin, that would be awesome.  Joceeykittykitty, I hope my insurance covers it.  That's a good question.  My OB told me that I would receive the Cervidil to help thin out my cervix since I haven't dilated at all.  I am sure when/if she checks me on Thursday, my cervix will still be closed.

I've had the cervix pill and pitocin. With the pitocin not only were my contractions waaaay bad but I threw up the entire time. So I'm super not a fan of the pitocin at all... I've also known women who have loved it so... :/ prob the same story of every body is totally different.

Yeah I am pretty upset over it too. :(
Like they just shove everything to finish their work already and it *****..:(
I like my doctor he's always viewing my baby and is the one doctor I have had for years...but I think I was suppose to put my foot down. He might see me as young and naive so thought of the "regular birhting plan" but Im not this time.. I will put him on his place and not let him do anything without a medical reason to do so... :l

I blame being induced two days before my due date the reason I ended up having a csection. I failed to progress past 8 cm. I wasn't allowed out of bed. Couldn't walk shower use birthing ball nothing I was so close and they gave up on me :-( I truly do not think I will ever get over it I'm still pretty pissed about it almost 3 years later. I am trying for a vbac with this baby with a new doctor who dyes vbacs all the time. I really hope to have the experience this time that I wanted last time.

I had cervidil first which did nothing. Then pitocin which caused pain but did nothing, lol. Ended up in a cesarean for me.

I am not knowledgeable about the Cervidil pill.. :o
But well my doctor didnt even ask me.. He just put me on pitocin and told me about it.. if anything I really suggest new moms to try do it on their own.  I can guarantee you, it will be way better and the most empowering feeling..
but if things go wrong. then whatever they suggest one must do to protect their babies then do it but if its not necessary then I say try your best without anything! :(

Ladies, is it possible for contractions to come on their own after receiving the Cervidil pill? Or do the Dr.'s prefer to give the Pitocin to start contractions?

I had pitocin also with my last pregnancy the doctor told me that the contractions would be worse than having them come on their own. It was terrible but I pushed through it definitely don't want it again.

Pitocin is horrible...its painful in the veins and it makes labor ten times worse! I had 2 that came on their own and 2 with pitocin! The ones that came on their own were short and a breeze...the other two were 56 and 47 hour long labors that were hard! Try not to let them give you pitocin if possible and good luck!!
