Even though I breastfed I had a can of formula on the side, just in case!!! There were some nights I just passed out and my hubby would give the baby formula so I could sleep if no breast milk was available! I didn't approve at first but was greatful to have a few extra hours of sleep!!

Same here. I breastfed first & second baby. First born was natural and second baby was c-section I had an hour in recovery after c section and as soon as they brought me my baby when I was good and well I stared to breastfeed. I plan on breastfeeding my third baby as well. Great decision to all mommies who want to breastfeed and good luck because sometimes I know it's not always easy.

i wouldn't get it before hand.  You can always have someone get some and bring it over when you get home. it takes a few days to come in,  I know that I didn't have the option to only breastfeed as I had a reduction done when I was 21. I had to do both nursing and formula.

Most of the time your milk fully comes in on day 3 postpartum.  U do not need to give formula in the first days based on that. The first few days your baby is recieving colostrum and that is all they need. I have breastfed 2 prior babies no formula :)

I know some hospitals provide you with baby formula as soon as the baby is born if you cannot breastfeed. You should have colostrum which is before your breast milk that is full and nutrients right away it's the first thing that is produced before you actually have the breast milk come out. it's produced before you even have your baby so you should be ok.

I had a c section and my milk came right in, no problems. Babies are not born hungry so you're body has time to kick things into gear.

So my milk was in just a few hours after my boy was here...but even if it doesn't come in right away the hopistal should have some formula to let you have....I also supplemented a little formula but through a pin like tub that I would tape to my nipple that was in a small bottle the lactation nurse gave me until all my milk came in that way he would still latch on n the more he sucked the more my body produce
