question about epidural PLEASE ANSWER

Has anyone ever had a reaction to the epidural? I had my son September 24th and couple days after being home I realized I had a rash on my back. I had the epidural before with my 2 previous pregnancies but never had a rash like that so just curious if anyone has had a rash or reaction to epidural? Thank you in advance.

It's was probably more the tape then the actual meds or you would have had more of a breakout.  Is it still there or bothersome at all?

I haven't had an epidural. They gave me a spinal with my csection and I've had back pain around that spot ever since. A rash kind of sounds like it could be a reaction to the adhesive from the tape used to hold the tube in place. Did it go away and have you talked to your doctor about it?

It could've been the tape that they used to hold it in place.  My skin is really sensitive when it comes to adhesives for some reason so even medical tape will break me out.  However, with my first son, after my epidural, I had a knot where they had inserted the needle.  It didn't occur with my second so I can only assume it was a reaction of some sort.  Try using hydrocortisol (sp?)...it may help.  I'd say if it spreads or gets worse/doesn't start to heal up, then ask your doc about it.

Thanks ladies for your responses. I forgot to add I got the epidural and A spinal cuz I ended up being taken back for a emergency c section. My rash is by where the did the epidural. My mom said it looks like shingles which scares the crap outa me cuz I don't want my son to get chickenpox. I'm going to go to the drs in the morning to see what it could be hopefully just a reaction.

I got a rash all 3 times I got the epidural, but mine was from the adhesive tape, im allergic.  @madukes89 I think the trembles are the body's response to the epidural I got them all 3 times ans probably will with my 4th

If it's shingles then it would hurt really bad. Like you couldn't wear any thing that touches it. My mom had it on her arm 2 years ago. It was horrible

Also could of been a reaction to the iodine they clean your back with before epidural and spinal

Thank you ladies so much for your responses. I think you ladies who said it was from the tape are right cuz I went to pharmacy today and showed pharmacist and they said it doesn't look like shingles and that it would hurt and it looks like a reaction to the tape I told them it doesn't hurt just itches really bad.
