short cervix...?

I'm a ftm and I'm very excited!  I'm 28w and 4d. Plus im having a girl! :-) I went to the doctor at 20 weeks to find out the sex and found out my cervix is short. 2.5 but now its dropped to 1.6.... does that mean I could start dialating?  I had 2 steriod shots also. If anyone could answer this I would really appreciate it. And my mom had me and my brother fine and has never heard of this.

They've put me in pelvic rest and said I couldn't work anymore.  I go to the doctors fri for another ultrasound to check on it again.  I guess im just really nervous because I want her to be full term and healthy! But hearing your story has definitely made me feel a lot better. Im due nov 29. And they have put me on progestrone.

Ive had a short cervix with both my pregnancies. This time around at 29 weeks my cervix was 1.1 i was put on full bedrest until i was 38 weeks. U started dialting around 32 weeks juat 1 cm and stayed there until 38 weeks where i was 4 cm. I am now 39+2 and cant get this baby out! With my first i had him at 37 weeks. Its very possible to carry to term just make sure u take the bedrest seriously.
