smoking cessation

I thought being pregnant would make quitting instant and easy. I'm at four weeks and have had five cigarettes since my blood work was verified. I feel like a complete failure. Please help.

Im 9 weeks and haven't quit yet and this is my #5. With the first 2 I quit cuz I couldn't stand the smell and my last two I smoked all the way through my pregnancy. I was only smoking maybe 3 a day at the most,  mainly while at work. I have tried to completely quit but its hard. Right now I have obly smoked like 2 a day at most I just take drags here and there. Its hard to quit. Congrats and good luck.

I am so proud of you for wanting to  quit that is such a hard thing to do especially just for yourself. If this is not a testimony of how addicted cigarettes are I don't know what  is ! you know you need to quit for the safety of your child and it still Is so hard to do.  I'm glad that you realize you need to quit. Since I am NOT a smoker I'm sorry I can't offer any suggestions on how to quit but as an ambassador with the American Heart. Association I just want to encourage you to do your very best for the welfare of your child. How great if you could quit and stay off of cigarettes then your child will not have to breath  your second hand smoke, Lower risk of asthma and ear infections. Again I'm so proud  of you be strong!!! You can be stronger than your addiction!!

I haven't quit with my first pregnancy I didn't either but I really cut back used to smoke a pack a day now I'm smoking like 5 to 7 per day or less I really try to save them for morning before bed and the after meals, instead of just smoking for the heck of it... I totaly understand u and I feel the same way too, I'm even embarrassed to be seen doing it and I'm not even showing a baby belly yet.... So don't be so hard on ur self, and just try to really cut down. Good luck :)

Quitting is always hard so dont feel bad. My Dr. Told me not to quit cold turkey cause of the stress it puts on you and can rise your blood pressure so I was took to cut back till I quit. I made it from a pack a day before my 1sr pregancy n when I delivered my son I only had 1 every couple of days

This is my thrid pregnancy. Please don't beat yourself up! Quitting is hard! I was a pack a day till i got pregnant this time. My dr has always told me that if i can not completely quit smoking cut back as much as possible and if that ends up making you quit then that much better. So take a deep breath and just keep cutting back as much as possible. There is no need to feel bad some women smoke their entire pregnancies and do not even try to cut back.
