strep B test....

So, my doctor told me that my next appointment (I'll be 36 weeks) that he'll be doing a strep B test.. what exactly is it and what do they do? First time mom.

I know what you mean. But it honestly wasn't bad when I got it with my first and read up on it.  My daughter was born 9lbs 6oz as healthy as can be :)

Oh wow. That would kind of be a bummer.. lol I haven't had the greatest pregnancy so far. So, I hope I don't have an infection!

No, the test isn't painful.  And most women don't even know they have the infection.

It is a bacterial infection that can pass from mother to baby during birth. If positive they give you meds during labor. I had it my first pregnancy and with this my third it was negative, I took it two weeks ago. They just pass a swab and you get the results your next appointment.

I forget what it's for exactly. But my doctor just took a cotton swab and rubbed it around the inside of my vagina. Really quick and simple.
