stripping of membranes???

I am 40 weeks today and I went in this afternoon for my appt,  I was at a solid 4 cm and 70% so the doctor stripped my membranes to see if she could kick start labor. I was just wondering how sucessful it is when doctors do that? How quickly does active labor start after having that done? This is my 3rd baby but I have never had it done before.

Thanks!  Lots of cramping right after but it's slowed down a lot, hopefully it starts up again some time tonight

My dr says it can be 24-48 hrs. With both of my babies I had it done and woke up at ten pm with one baby in labor and 11pm with the other baby:-) good luck momma!!!

My doc said it's 30% successful.. More likely to happen if you've given birth vagibally before.

I had it done on my due date,  I wasn't even 1cm at the time..... started having pains about 3 hour hours later which turned into contractions and 12 hours later my son was born!

I had 2 and neither one of them worked. I'm overdue. Hopefully it works for you. My doctor said 24-48 hours.
