when I lay on my side I feel my baby kicking and I tried to lean back to give him more room am I smashing him is that why he's kicking is he trying to get more room

My baby moves an insane amount when i lay on my side! You're not squishing baby! They probably feel the pull of gravity and it gets then kicking! Nothing to worry about enjoy how active baby is!
