I think you are ok as long as your doctor isn't worried. I've lost weight and am continuing to at week 21. I had extra to start with as well. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I never gained any weight untill around 30 weeks with first pregnancy  im pregant now only 11 weeks but I havent put any weight on again, I don't think its anything to worry about unless you've lost weight as long as baby's alright on your check ups don't stress about it

I'm also a high school teacher. I'm 15 weeks and only gained like 3 pounds. I had a little extra to begin with!

Look at this a really good reason to eat as much if whatever you'd like! At my school the culinary class makes lunches that teachers can have delivered to their rooms. This helps ensure I do eat lunch every day. They also make the most amazing calzones! That's where most of my 3 pounds has come from, I'm sure!

I think it only becomes a real concern if the mother is underweight and not eating properly.  Other than your concerns about weight gain,  does your baby have a strong heartbeat and growing normally?
