what causes a stillborn???

I've been reading a lot of woman having   stillborns, what causes that?

Ladies I am very sorry to hear about your losses because it is so heartbreaking. I have suffered 3 miscarriages and my daughter is 13 this is our second child, a boy and I'm very fearful of losing him. I hope that none of you have to experience this again or experience it for the first time. My hopes are that we all continue to have healthy pregnancies and even healthier babies.

This is my biggest fear ! With my son I never worried about it but I feel like there are soo many stories and awareness about it now I can't stop thinking about it! :( its making me soo miserable I'm 37 weeks an any time I don't feel my baby move I go into panic mode an completely lose it. It seems like a lot of the stillbirths I've heard of happen right at the end of pregnancy to so that makes me even more afraid I can't wait till I just have her an can hold her an love her.

Thank you all for your stories and I am sorry for your losses. I really think that this is something that should be talked about more. I mean you hear about miscarriages all the time but you dont get to see as much about this. I hope everyonr has happy healthy little babies and you all have a great rest of your pregnancy :)

I had a stillborn as well at 37 wks!!!! Everything was fine and her lil heart just quite beating...sometimes there is no reason...if its meant to be it will...dont stress about it  its very hard and still is but now I understand there was nothing I coulda dobe to take better care of myself.....stressing bout it isnt gonna prevent it.take care of yourself and baby best u can its all u can do

It is sad @momma2b28. But now I'm 34 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy! Happy as can be. :) the chances of a stillborn happening are slim. There really is no need to stress about that.

The chances of it happening is very small. The more you read about other stories, the more you'll freak yourself out.  Try and relax.  You're fine love :)

My sisters baby didnt make it because she just didnt form correctly, she was told at her 20week scan, and was induced a couple of days later, she was 18 then,n went on to have 3 healthy children. Try not to read to many of these stories, or it will b constanty on your mind and wont be able to relax and enjoy your pregnancy xx

Different things cause stillbirths. Nothing you can do to prevent it. It just happens. We lost our baby girl at 20 weeks last yr. She was considered a stillbirth. We knew she had problems from the first trimester. We were actually told she wouldn't make it past. She had alot of fluid around her that was not amniotic fluid. When she was big enough to look and her heart they found out that she had heart issues. I want to say that was 18 weeks. One side was bigger than the other and she had and hope in the middle. 2 weeks later her little heart just couldn't take it anymore. They said I could wait for her to come out on her own or get induced. Feeling her floating inside of me was just too hard so we were in the hospital for 2 days until she came out. It was the worst day of my life and still is. We got to hold her for as long as we wanted and I'm thankful for my husband who held himself together long enough to make arrangements for her cremation. I realize now that there was nothing I could do to prevent it from happening. It's definitely something that needs to be spoken about more often. All those little angels above that never got the chance to take that first breath. But it's nothing that we do ourselves to cause a stillbirth. Most times your dr will see something ahead of time.

A lot of still births are caused by the baby getting the umbilical cord wrapped around its neck. The baby doesn't breathe through it's trachea at thay point so it doesn't mean it's being "strangled", its actually the knotting or kinking of the cord that causes the decreased in oxygen, when severe causing death.

Or heart defects that were undiagnosed or missed during ultrasounds.

Its all so heart breaking.

This is my 2nd pregnancy... with my son I never worried about this once I got out the of miscarriage stage I didnt think twice about anything bad happening.  This pregnancy I feel more aware and now ive actually met a few people who have had stillbirths and I am completely terrified. I try not to think about it but its hard because nothing is guaranteed. I dont think there is a specific reason the people I have talked to their dr could not figure out the cause.

I don't think there's a specific reason. I have been seeing a lot more about still borne I feel like too. Its scary, my husband gets mad when I try to read him a story on it etc, BC it scares him as well. I guess if its going to happen its going to happen, try not to worry about it, and I'll practice what I preach as well :)
