yoga

I've always worked out, but now that I'm pregnant (after 2 miscarriages) I'm trying to take things a little easier. I do want to stay active though. I've never done yoga, and I would like to try it....has anyone had experience starting yoga while pregnant? Good or bad idea?

I started yoga in my second trimester and this is my first pregnancy ever. Im at 20 weeks. Im loving it! I want to continue it even after i have the baby and see if theres any baby yoga for babies. Its helping to keep moving at an easy pace and its relaxing and helps me with my breathing. I just look them up on youtube Good luck.

There are certain things you can't do in a regular yoga class,  but it depends on how far along you are. You can do everything through your first Trimester. Starting with your second Trimester you can't be laying on you belly or doing cross body twists. As soon as you get a bump going you should not be laying flat on your back because it will restrict blood flow. Be very careful standing up and if you start to get hot or dizzy take a break. Tell the instructor you are pregnant. Also remember you have the hormone relaxin pumping through your body so be very aware not to over streach (reach/bend/pull) too far, You could injure yourself that way.

Thanks! Do you all take regular yoga or prenatal ? I already joined a gym and they have yoga classes a few days a week but not prenatal yoga. I'm hoping regular will be ok as well

See if you can find a prenatal yoga class. It will do you wonders! If you're able to do a little bit of yoga every day it will help you, your baby,  and your labor!  I second staying for the meditation it helps with blood pressure and anxiety!  Good luck!

Omg it's a life saver. I've been doing yoga for years & it's so good for your body but most importantly your mental state. I'm only 9 weeks but plan to keep practicing throughout my pregnancy. Just tell the teacher you are pregnant if its not obvious & they will give you options if there is anything you should avoid. Stick with it you won't regret it.
