5 week ultra sound scan

I had a ultra sound today because I was spotting dark brown for over 2 weeks. My Dr said I was about 7-8 weeks pregnant and sent me for scan to see if things were ok. I had the scan today and the Dr said I was only 5-6 weeks pregnant according to the size of the sac. They could only see a sac and no fetus or heartbeat. They have booked me another scan in 10 days to see if the pregnancy has developed further or stopped. Has anyone else had the same at 5 weeks, if so what happened next?

I'm almost 6 wks and my Dr did an ultrasound at 4 wks 4 days and all they saw was a gestational sac. It's nothing to be worried about. I'm getting my next ultrasound done in 2 days.
