5 weeks after mirena removal...no period.

Hi.

I was just wondering if i should do a pregnancy test or wait a while?! I had mirena removed  5 weeks ago...bled the 3rd day after it was removed for 1 day and nothing since! Had the merina for 18 months and didn't have a period while i was on it so i don't know what to expect! For the last week my lower back has been aching and my breasts are feeling sore! Had unprotected sex a lot in the last month as we really want another baby ASAP!
Any advice?!

You could deffinitely be pregnant but also the mirena tends to reduce your periods and it takes a couple of months to get back to normal flow.  BUT I think you should be able to test any day now.

You could be pregnant.. but then again my doc told me that it might take a while to get regulated. I had the Merina IUC removed April 21st and had no bleeding at all until April 24th, that started my period which lasted about a week then I started fertility testing (b/c we are ttc) . I had no Idea what my cycle was b/c I did not have a period the entire 2 years that the merina was in place. I purchased one of those month long fertility test kits and I just tested everyday and finally on the 18th day(which means I have a 35 day cycle) I got a positive test and for the next 3 days.. so that is where I am now waiting to see if we conceived.
Keep me posted on you.. I'd like to hear. I was so afraid that I would not be able to get pregnant or even have a period after reading about other women's issues with the merina.  Good Luck!

Hi again! Well it ended up being a false alarm....got my period today with a vengence! Can't wait 'til we can start trying again! I was a bit disappointed but it's prob better to get it now so i have a better idea of my cycle! I have been so up and down for the last 2 weeks, getting so upset over little things and the pain in my back was terrible! Bad period pain today but i'm feeling positive! Thank goodness i got rid of the mirena! Just hope it doesn't take so long to conceive! Thank you for the comments!!! Best of luck to you both.

Well, I am in your boat.  I had my mirena removed on June 1st 2009 and I am now 5 weeks removal and unlike you, I still have had no period.  I bled heavily a day or two after it was removed... but all dr. say that is not your period.  I am getting anxious and frustrated because I just want to have a period to let me know where I am in the cycle.  Not having a period is very hard.  Hopefully I see something soon.

I had my Mirena removed on 7/22 and started bleeding on 7/23.  The bleeding lasted on and off for two weeks.  I usually have a 26 day cycle, like clock work even while on the Mirena.  I tried to take a PT today but accidentally dropped it in the toilet!!!  Whoops!!  So needless to say I got an invalid result...  Getting a little nervous but would love to have another baby... My husband isn't quite ready yet because we are hitting month 9 of his unemployment, without the unemployment compensation... so I guess he's right...

Hi, I just had mine removed on sept 30 09 and i bled a tiny bit that day then nothing, then 2 days later a tiny bit of blood, then next day nothing. so every other day I was slightly bleeding. We had unprotected sex the day before removal, and I heard that I could get pregnant just from that. Also, 2 days ago we had sex with a condom because we wanted to wait to get pregnant until November, so anyways, the condom came off inside me and when i got it pulled out, there was barely any semen in there. So I could be pregnant which would be fine, but I'm still bleeding every other day. So, I'm afraid I could have a miscarriage... Anyways, I took a test the day after removal and it was negative. And, I plan to take one in 2 weeks. So, please let me know what happens with you. Your story is the closest one I've found to mine. So, email me with any advice or discoveries... my email is
***@****   THANKS! and GOOD LUCK!

I seem to be in the same boat with a lot of women coming off the mirena IUD.I have been on it for 3 years and just got it removed on Nov2 (cause we want to conceive ASAP). Bleed for 3 days and at around day 18 I had very light spotting which I thought was implentation bleeding......getting a lot of symptoms of preganancy... boobs hurt for 3 days, nausea for the last 3 weeks, dizzyness, cramping, gassy, extreme 3 day long headaches.  I think I am going out of my mind....2 weeks ago I went to the doctor for a blood prego test, but it was neg.  Am I making this up in my head? Going CRAZZZYYY! It is stressfull cause I have had no period either.......so if I am not pregnant, then period, please please come so I can start keeping track!!! I am off to the doctor today for another preg. test and other test to see if there is something else going weird with my body......I will keep you all posted and let you know what happens in the next day or 2 after my tests results come in.........Thinking all of you!

Sorry i haven't been online for a while! 9 weeks after i had mirena removed i had a positive preg test. Only bled for 2 or 3 days 5 weeks after i had it taken out so it wasn't the same as my usual period! I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant. All going well so far apart from the awful morning sickness. Wishing you all luck ttc. x

I had mirena removed Dec 19th of 2009, and jsut like everyone else 3 days later I bled for about 10 days. Since then i have not had a period! I have read it takes some time for your period to regulate, but i ALWAYS had a period on mirena and a very regular one. I do NOT want to get pregnant, I have not had unprotected sex. If there is anyone who is in the same boat as me and got there period a little reassurance would be fantastic!

Hey there to you and really anyone that can relate. I had my Merina taken out on the 22nd of Jan, for many reasons. I had it in over a year and once I got thorough the horrible introduction of it to my body, that took about 3-4 months. I finally got used to it. My husband always said he could feel it and there were times after sex I bled slightly. I had my yearly PAP done the end of Dec 2009 and after that I developed an infection. Now I believe that it was from the PAP and something with the Merina. I had itching, burning when I peed, cramps, bloody show, and the real kicker was what felt like mild contractions all day long. After being put on a anti for Bacterial Vaginosis for a week and not getting better and researching all the things that can happen due to Merina I wanted it out.

Just a little about me. I have two boys a soon to be 4 in April and a 1 1/2 year old. I am a stay at home mom and it's a lot of fun, hard work, that can drive me crazy sometimes. I just lost 33 lbs on WW with all the excitement to get into a bikini this summer, with no plans for having another just yet. All that said I was not planning on having this turn of event with the infection of Merina and not to long ago was not planning on having it removed. I have had no periods for a while that was a plus.

So that brings us to now. I had sex with my hubby on the 17Th of Jan and on the 21 the day before removal not even thinking about the risks of getting pregnant, which we do not want right now. Looking back pre Merina I ovulated around the 21st. I had small amount of blood after removal that I though was the start of my (. )on the 24Th and then nothing:( I have been so bloated that it's really uncomfortable, nauseous, tired, just not feeling as sexy as I have felt. With WW I track all that I eat, the good bad and the ugly and even going on Vaca I have not gained more than 1 1/2 lbs I am now up 2lbs. I had no issue with my boobs and was happy about that until last night. Not sore but tingly and my nipples are poky. Needless to say I'm not totally happy about this and part of me would be.

Where is my period and why do I feel pregnant? I took a cheap dollar tree test yesterday that was neg but it's still to early to test and I just have to wait;( It's hard to relax. my insurance does not cover maternity and like others we have high medical bills from this past year to pay for. I know we will be fine, our family will be in total shock but I'm still in hopes that AF comes and comes soon. Does anyone else have the same symptoms besides not missing AF.

zena1812...I'm in the same boat as you. I had the Mirena taken out on 1/28 after having it for 2 1/2 years.

I charted my cycle pre-Mirena removal and it was a similar cycle to my usual cycles (before I had the Mirena)..with O around day 15/16. I had a slight period on 1/19 and on CD9 we DTD - the day before the removal. I didn't think of anything since I figured I wouldn't O until several days later anyway. Since I chart my temps, FF says I ovulated two days after the Mirena removal (due to my temps only) which also the day I had some removal bleeding. I thought it was odd but several days later I started to feel pregnant (about 4-5 after O)..nausea, sore breasts (I never had that with my 2 other pregnancies), headaches, hungrier as usual etc... I thought it was odd to feel pregnant so soon after O (I didn't have any symptoms with my two boys until the 6th week). Well..my temps have been up and down and I had slight brownish spotting a few days ago (about 13 DPO)...depending on my temps I should be getting my AF any day now. I'm on CD28 right now..no sign of AF. I really have no idea what is going on.. I haven't tested yet but I'm going to see a Dr. today for a possible ear infection so hopefully I'll find out what's going on.

Hello everybody!
I am glad to read all your stories are similar to mine, I had my coil removed 1st of feb, bled really heavy 3 days later passing cloths etc, even got medicine to keep me from bleeding so heavy. I actually thought that my normal period started 8 feb as i bled normal for a week and it felt like a period. Since then I have not had a period yet I have 3 neg pregnancy tests.......I am now just waiting, maybe my cycle is a bit messed up?? xx

oh and like many of you i also had bleeding for a few days after i had my IUD removed, but went away within 3 days.

I had my Mirena (IUD) removed on Feb. 3rd, 2010 and started my PMS on Feb. 6th, 2010 lasted up to five days and I haven't started since funny huh. We are all in the same boat Mirena is really tricky! Well I took 4 PT's & all neg. So I'm just waiting a month more because I had spoke to my OB/GYN and she said give it a  month more if not come into the office. So we will see happens till then!

Well I'm back I started my PMS as of April 1st and now I ain't worried because I was like as I pregnant or not. My PMS is so strong and heavy flowing that my cramping is so bad. Last night I couldn't sleep because of the heavy flow and the bad cramping. Well all this explains my breakouts (that I never had), bloating, crankiness, migraine headaches, and sore breast. Thank God it my PMS is back because I was thinking was wrong with me since I had not started. So just expect the worst when you start and have plenty of pads because it's heavy flow..TTYL

Hi All,

I have never done anything like this before but I am so worried. I had Mirena removed in December the 16th if I can remember correctly after having it for 9 months. I bleed up until 12/24. In January I had bleeding that started on the 21st and lasted 6 days so I was assuming that would be my regular cycle time. I had a biopsy in February believe it was the 10th which caused me to bleed for 3 days, again assuming this was cycle. Now the entire month of March has passed with no AF. I have pregnancy symptoms but all hpt's are coming up negative. Finally today I went to the Dr. for blood test but I am feeling really down and negative due to the multiple negative HPT results! Who would have ever thought it would be so hard? I have two kids and neither were planned. Now that I am planning NOTHING! Will update once I get blood test results tomorrow!

Hi. I had my Mirena IUD for 4+ years. I had it removed January 2010. We started ttc#1 right away. It took me 31 days to get my first period once I had it removed. Once I got it it came on day 25 for the next couple of months. I'm not sure if I'm really that regular because I haven't had a period for over 4 years because of the IUD. So far no baby, my fingers are crossed! AF is due on the 23rd if my cycle is 25 days again. Good luck to everyone!

Have you gone to the doctor yet? I can't believe your IUD fell out, how crazy and scary! When I had my IUD removed I didn't have ANY side effects at all. It just took me 31 days to get a period. I've never been pregnant (we are trying) but the sickness sounds like you might be. I would definitely call the doctor to put your mind at ease. Good luck, keep me posted!

Hi,

Try not to panic, i had my mirena taken out on the 17th June and had a very heavy period, which lasted fora long time. Since then my cycles r all messed up, it came a week early last month and now i am due to day and have nothin, ( I was always reg before mirena!) Anyway alot of people get one extreme or the other after removal, either v heavy bleeding or none at all!  It is possible that you could be pregnant and the only way you will know unfortunately is to wait and take a test which, believe me i know is extremely difficult when you need to know "NOW"

We are tying to conceive our fourth child so hopefully we will be lucky this month!!

Best of luck!  and I hope you get the result you want!

Please post again and let me know how you get on!!
