cheating?

Why would doctor perform a pregnancy test on my wife if I had vasectomy  10 years ago? I'm obviously asking because I assume she cheated now.

You said in your other post that she was seeing the doctor for pain in her lady parts. He probably has a standard list of tests he runs (or his clinic tells him to run) when someone comes in with such a complaint. Usually the doctor doesn't do more than say "We're going to run some tests," he or she doesn't go over each one in advance with the patient (such that she would even have the chance to say, "No, my husband has had a vasectomy and so I don't need that test." And unless this is also your doctor, he wouldn't have access to your records to know you had a vasectomy.

Also, a thorough doctor would make sure there is also a record somewhere saying you had your sperm levels tested afterward to make sure the vasectomy was effective, or he or she might test your wife for pregnancy anyway on the chance the vasectomy didn't work.

Basically, doing an inexpensive test like a pregnancy test will rule out a whole lot for sure. Trying to get from a wife her husband's medical history (and whether it's still correct -- vasectomies can fail) is guesswork.

The other thing I thought of after the discussion the other day is that your wife would have to know there was at least a chance you would see the record of her visit to the doctor. If she seriously was concerned she was pregnant and had a guilty secret about where a pregnancy might have come from, the last thing she would do is ask this doctor for a test for pregnancy, since you might find out. She would just have gone to the drugstore and gotten a home pregnancy test, which you would never find out about.  It just doesn't sound like the actions of a cheating woman, to openly get a pregnancy test right in front of her husband who has had a vasectomy.

My guess is that you're wrong to take the presence of a pregnancy test among a panel of tests, as an indicator your wife is having an affair.
