Good luck this weekend! Having an induction (if you are not already dilating/effacing) will increase your chances for having to have assistance with delivery, whether it is episiotomy or a c-section, not getting an epidural. I had an epidural and only pushed for 3 contractions. Good Luck!
Good luck! When was your due date? I have 9 days to go and I am getting anxious that I might need to be induced...for some reason I think I'll go 'late'.
Inductions can be more painful but it is because they are usually quicker and forced on your body rather than your body slowly doing what it wants to do naturally. The epidural will have no effect on whether or not they need to assist you with your delivery (forceps, vacuum etc.) It will effect whether you can do the waterbirth though...Stay strong!
my due date was 31st march. Thanks for your comments, as they don't check routinely in this country, i have no idea if i am already dilating/effacing yet and will find out when examined tomorrow. Then they will see if i need a pessary for my cervix first, or if they are just going to rupture my waters.
I'll let you know how i get on when i get internet access again
Its funny you mention that htey don't routinely check in the UK because my doctor checked me once at 36w and said I was effaced but not dilated and hasn't checked me since...I'm 39w...He said that if I wasn't having contractions, there was no point in checking because some women are dilated to a 3 for weeks before birth and that without contractions it means nothing =(
Anyways, GOOD LUCK!
I had a baby girl, 8lb, 1oz, on sunday 12th april. We've just decided on a name...Eloise Mia. Shes still very sleepy and not taking to feeding, but is a lovely little sweetie who settles well.
Amg- did your labor go well for being induced?? Congrats!
My friend jess was dialted to a 3 for 2 weeks and she had no contractions at all then went into labor on her own. Her water broke. She didnt even know what BH felt like lol She was just probably lucky and didnt feel them. Im sure everyone gets them though.
i didnt feel any BH, but i believe everyone does get them whether they are felt or not. I'd had tummypain - like period cramp but constant, or like constipation/diarrhoea pain- for 3 days before, which became much worse about 5 hours after induction but was still constant. An hour or so later the midwife felt my stomach and said i was having tightenings (the contractions) - but i still couldnt feel them, just this bad constant pain. Then all of a sudden i went to having contraction pains for 2-3mins every 5 mins which within half an hour were unbearable painful. I''m not sure if this was a result of the induction or not, but people do say its quicker with stronger and more painful contractions when induced.
8 hours later little Eli was born, with only 15 mins pushing (i was determined to get her out and have never strained so hard in my life so she didnt have much option! lol)
I was 1&1/2cm dialated when induced, so it was effective timewise, but i think it did affect how the contractions came on and the speed and strength of them.
that ticker keeps saying its her birthday 'today' everyday, anyone know how to correct it as i have put in her date of birth for it and it still does it. Thanks
I don't know how to fix this BUT maybe you can scroll down to the bottom of the page to contact us and ask MedHelp...
