A little early - but nursery ideas???

So hubby and I just moved to a new house and have painted the whole thing...including the room that will be the nursery. I have it all planned in my mind. The bedroom used to be a bright bubble gum pink colour so that was motivation for hubby to paint it ASAP. We painted it like a green....kinda like the baby green but a little darker. I got some dark chocolate brown curtains to keep the light out and it looks amazing with the green. My nursery idea is brown and green with some pink if its a girl and some other colours if its a boy. The theme will be monkeys since I LOVE monkeys. I wont overdo it though. We are going to paint one shadow monkey on the wall in choc brown and then just have like monkeys sheets blankets here and there. Im not going all out with the matching lamp and all the accessories. We have had to downsize with this posting - hubby is military so we will try to have minimal until we move again. So this is my idea....what have you ladies thought of - or am I INSANE to be thinking of this already?? Did I mention im not working since I am not qualified to teach in the province?? I guess i have a little too much time on my hands :)

Looking fwd to hearing your ideas....

I too was thinking green for the nursery!  My little boy's nursery is blue and it is dump trucks and cement mixers and I loved it!  It is cute, but discontinued - I bought it all off ebay for half the price.  It is called underconstruction by oshkosh baby - they have cute nursery sets.  You guys should check out oshkosh baby - I loved almost all of their stuff!

Yes! Thats a good idea & one I was thinking of myself. I was thinking I could just find cute baby stuff that kind of matches what we have (which is greens & browns)..so if it is a girl I could mix some pink in. Our bedroom is very big & there is a corner we are planning to have as the baby space. I wanna make some cute letters for the name to hang on the wall & maybe some pictures or art work in that corner all relating to the baby. I will make it work :)

I'm probably going to have to skip painting the nursery too, since we rent our house, and our landlord is kind of iffy about painting any of the walls. So I think I'm going to rely on decals and pictures and stuff to put on the walls of the nursery.  Could you pick out a space in your bedroom as the "nursery" and plan how you'll decorate that?  If you get decals, or even some sort of a portable divider, it would look like a separate space!  Although I guess it depends on how big your bedroom is :-)

I wish I could start planning for a nursey! We live in a one bedroom apartment (which is big!) but we dont have an extra room to paint or anything..I guess I still get to pick out bedding & everything, but I'd love to decorate a whole room!

Is the brown and green bedding the spa baby collection from Toys r Us? I am from Canada and have found alot of what we are looking for at toys r us in the US - so looks like hubby and I will have to take a weekend to hit the states for some toys r us shopping - I am sure he will be ecstatic to shop there ! LOL  I considered the spa baby collection from TOYS R US in canada but decided not to get the whole bedding as I dont think the baby will even use the bed spread so I will use fun blankets instead. I love the brown and green look though. Great minds think alike.

i've had the plans since the first week I found out I was preggo. I am also a teacher and had a lot of time on my hands to research. we are not finding out the sex, so its easier to plan now. i am also going with the green/brown look. i found the bedding at babies r us. its stripes and circles. i just like to more modern looking stuff. if i wasn't feeling so crappy now, i would prob start painting! I think its natural to be excited and want to plan everything. i am already starting to buy stuff as i see it.

I've already got nursery ideas as well!  That's what ttc for so long, AND being off for the summer will do to you (I'm a teacher as well).  The one's I was looking at are by Kidsline, and for a girl its teddy bears doing ballet, and for a boy, its teddy bears playing sports. If you can't tell, I LOVE teddy bears ( I collect Boyd's Bears...I probably have over 100) and a teddy bear nursery gives me a good excuse to display them without looking like a freak!
