Pregnancy and soda pop

I know pop is not good for you when you are pregnantbut it seems to be the only thing that settles my stomach. I have morning sickness all day long. Today I actually threw up at work. I can't wait for this part to be over.

Personally I never drink soda because it is so very bad for you, absolutely delicous though :) if a little sprite is settling your stomach then there is nothing wrong a little indulgence. It's important to go with what you are most comfortable with. One can get so wrapped up with all the do's and don't during pregnancy. Don't stress yourself out mama!

No avoid diet during pregnancy! the chemicals used for the sugar replacement are worse than the high fructose.

The reality of soda pop during pregnancy is that you have to follow the rule of thumb: less than 300mg of caffeine per day while pregnant. What most people don't realize is that, for your average 12oz coke, that's nearly 9 sodas! who drinks that many cokes anyway?

So a few sodas a day to calm your stomach is perfectly safe and not a bad idea because vomiting is going to rob your body of valuable nutrients and calories. Bear in mind that coffee, unlike soda, contains on AVERAGE 100-300mg of caffeine PER CUP....so it's not something that can be indulged in as lightly. And some sodas, like mountain dew, have a MUCH higher caffeine content so you're limited to more like 4-5 per day....

but with regular coke, I've always found that even drinking it like I do when not pregnant, I don't come anywhere NEAR my daily allowance...usually I don't even drink more than 100mg a day, without changing my non-pregnant/pregnant soda habits.

so...drink the soda, if it helps! and avoid diet; it's full of awful chemicals. but like leeann said sprite or even ginger ale are wonderful, caffeine-free alternatives because the clear sodas are easier for your stomach to digest.

Its not really the pop that is bad it is more about the caffeine in the pop..they say to limit the amount of caffeine that you take in...I would chose a diet and caffeine free pop if you drink any at all...I'm glad you found something to settle your stomach I can't drink anything with carbanation to it because it just turned my stomach and makes me sick every time...
