Depending on the state of your cervix the dr may just break your water, give you a pill to get things moving, or start pitocin.
Ask your doctor about the specific process because the methods used for inducing are different depending on the situation.
I was induced with my last at 39 weeks and was 0cm dilated (worst possible situation). Pitocin was started at 6am, and had regular, completely non painful contractions until about 3pm. At that point I was dilated to a 3cm and the dr broke my water. Contractions started becoming painful about an hour later and I got an epidural about 6pm (had dilated to a 7cm by then). Baby came a few hours later
Ahh lucky..I'm due the 4th and no signs of my lil one coming.this is my third kid..my first 2 were also 3 days after due date each time
I've been 3cm dilated for 3 weeks now and the doctor feels as though being induced would be a better choice, plus my mom is coming into town and she lives 12 hours away and can only come in the 10th and leave the 12th and I'm not due til the 14th
Is there a reason yall are being induced or are docs just impatient?
I'm curious about this too.. I'm a FTM too being induced the 8th at 39 wks... :-/
