dilation

Girls I was wondering if any of you have started to dilate? I'm 36+3 and I have not dilated at all.

This is my second baby with my first I was 3 cm since I was 30 weeks and had him at 36 weeks. With this one like I said not even 1 cm. My doc hasn't check me yet. I was checked at the hospital because I was having constant Braxton hicks with a lot of pressure on my vaginal. The nurse check and she said it was close

I was 33 weeks and 4cm dilated, lost mucus plug and 70% effaced. I'm now 37 weeks and no change since then. I have an appointment tomorrow so well see if anything has changed.

You don't want to try checking yourself as this can pose a risk to the baby. Only check if you are a trained professional as you can cause an infection in your cervix. Being checked is slightly uncomfortable. The physician places 2 fingers inside your vaginal opening. She pushes down on the upper half of your abdomen. It last for about 10 to 30 seconds depending on how high your cervix is. Depending on your vaginal opening and the swelling from pregnancy, it can be un-noticable to uncomfortable to mildly painful.

Mine won't check so i checked it myself. Make sure you have clean clean hands as to not risk putting bacterianup there. I googled and youtube'd how to do it, it's pretty straight forward :)

When does your doctor actually check to see? Did you have to ask the dr to check? I'm 35 weeks and my dr has never even talked about it. I'm curious to know if I'm dilated at all.

Couple of us have I started to at 33 weeks but this is my 3rd baby. Sometimes it happens longer  to ftm. After your first  your body loosens  earlier with next preganacys. Don't worry it'll happen sometimes not until actual Dday. I know for myself being  a little dialated just adds on to the anxiety  and like really why is this taking so long!  My 1st I didn't till dday. My 2nd I'm not sure dr never checked me once I got to 3rd trimester.
