Congratulations! I just found out we're having a boy, and I had convinced myself it was a girl. We had her name and I had started buying little dresses. I was in shock and forgot everything I wanted to ask my midwife.
I worked as a nursing assistant on a hospital maternity ward when I was in high school.
I'll always have the memory in my head of a couple who ended up with identical twin boys- both healthy and adorable. They were, unfortunately, devastated because the MD had told them they were having identical twin GIRLS!! They had 2 pink EVERYTHING!
I just remember thinking how sad it was that they couldn't even enjoy their two healthy babies because of the misinformation. I'm sure they got used to the idea quickly and got over it, but I'm sure they were going through what you're describing in an amplified way.
I'm glad baby is still healthy and I'm sure once you're over the shock, you'll love your little princess like crazy!
congrats on your little princess. I'm having one too :)
I am not disappointed, just shocked. We spent the last few weeks believing we were having another boy, thinking of names, picturing the 2 of them playing together, dreaming of what "he" would look like, etc... Now the picture is not clear and I just have to start thinking of my little girl in our family. All we hope for is a healthy baby, boy or girl we will love and cherish her as the miracle she is.
Hopefully you didn't decorate the room just yet. I know it probably must have been much easier with the thought of a little boy because you have everything you need already. But, a little girl how EXCITING :)
I am already telling my husband that I want a girl too... even though I am thrilled I am having a little boy! Wish I was having twins one boy one girl.
were you wanting another boy? you don't seem too excited! I have always wanted a daughter - who knows if I will be blessed with a child at all, but I would definitely prefer a girl! I took care of 3 girls and a boy during college and the girls were SO much easier to deal with than the boy; then again, I grew up with 3 brothers and no sisters so I have had my fill of boys, lol!
