Any idea of where I can get the info for SC?
Hi,
You may want to look into that because you should be entitled to more time off in the state of NJ. I also live in NJ and work in HR. You should be entitled to up to 4 paid weeks off before you deliver under Temporary Disability Insurance, 12-14 weeks paid time off after under Temporary Disability Insurance and NJ Family Leave Insurance, and then an additional 6 weeks unpaid time off under NJFLA.

Due to high blood pressure, my doc has pulled me off work already and I'm not due till 8/17. The baby is measuring big so I'll probably go earlier. However, I'm taking 8 weeks 100% paid short term disability and then my long term at 60% will kick in until I go back 6-8 weeks after she's born.
I'm using 12 weeks flma and the have another 120 hrs of short term disability so I'm taking off 4 months since we can't get an opening for daycare til January and I'm due august 17
I can take off as long as I choose but it's not paid. I plan to take 8 weeks if I can continue to work until I go into labor. If not it'll just be 6
I get no paid maternity leave, i get FMLA for 12 weeks, but have to take all of my accrued sick/vacation time first. So im going to use that time for myself and start my FMLA as soon as the baby is born. The USA has the worst maternity policies in the world. Its rediculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My job only given me 6 week off and I don't think its fair because I'm going to breastfeed
My job only given me 6 week off and I don't think its fair because I'm going to brestfeed
I'm in New Jersey USA and I get only 6 weeks for natural birth and 8 weeks if I have a c-section
It depends on a lot of things, but I think if you work for commission you might not be eligible to have a paid leave. I know in my country (Canada) we have a program called Employment Insurance (EI for short) that will pay you most - but not all- of your wages for 52 weeks after baby is born. You should check into your options of how you will get money while you are off because that will affect how long you take. Some countries/companies only give 6 weeks of leave.
