progestrogen tabs during pregnacy

i have a history of premature births inthat all my 4 children were born before 37 weeks.i am curently expecting my 5th baby and have had a cervical stitch put in.I have also been prescribed proestogen vaginal tablets to take twice a day untill i am 34 weeks i am curentally 23 weeks pregnant.will it help? as i had a cervical stitch in my last pregnancy but i was not given the proestrogen tabs,and i got to 36 weeks.are these tabs safe?

The progesterone is safe, and from what I've understood, helps relax the uterine muscles...therefore lessening the chances of preterm labor...while the stitch helps keep the cervix from dilating. A pretty good combo, I think!

Well first of all good luck for your pregnancy. I too have the stitch this time and had one born at 28 weeks and one at 22 that had to be buried. I got the stitch at 14 weeks and they put me on the progesterone shots. Never heard of the tabs. I guess it's just another form of the shot. They are probably giving them to you because the stitch alone does not get you to at least 38 weeks. Personally last time i had the shots without the stitch and it was devastiting so i am praying for a better outcome this time. You would know more with your history of stitches. If you don't mind me asking why didn't the stitch get you to 38 weeks. Just curious as this is the first time I have had the stitch. Well God Bless! I'm pretty sure the tabs are safe it's probably like the shots just give you extra hormones to help the pregnancy continue to progress because our bodies don't make enough.
