Weight gain for baby

Just curious how much weight people have gained or lost with this pregnancy.

What # of pregnancy is this for you? How much weight have you gained/lost? How many babies are you carrying?

This is my second pregnancy and I am carrying one very active baby girl. I personally started out heavier than my last pregnancy but I have only lost weight for the first 5+ months. Then around 6 months I gained back 4lbs of the 9lbs lost. Well that changed at my 30week appointment I lost 3lbs from what I had gained. So in total I have lost 8lbs and only gained 1lb total.

You dont have to put your total weight.

Man I wish I was in the negatives for weight gain. This is my forth pregnancy and I've gained 25lbs (I'm 38weeks+). I gained 22 lbs with my first and second pregnancies and 23 lbs with my 3rd pregnancy. I haven't gained and new weight in the past 2 weeks and actually started to loose some weight so I hope I'm at my heaviest now 140 lbs is alot to weigh when your only 5 ft 2inch tall. I'll be breast feeding again though so hopefully the weight will come off easily. Although I'm 35 yrs old this time (6 1/2 yrs older than at my last pregnancy) so I'm not too sure if the weight will come off as easily as it did when I was younger.

weight is such a funny thing considering each pregnancy is different, age plays a roll and sometimes the baby's herritage also can play a roll.. Cant wait to see my midwife this Thursday- see if I gained any more weight or if I am still -7lbs. =/

I have only lost weight, so hopefully the delivery holds off a while longer.. no swelling so far that I have noticed other than a little bit in my hands. Mainly cause I clinch them at night and used them all day at work on a computer.

Yea c-sections are not always easy to recover from-- so good luck, hope you dont have much pain and NO infections. Sweats are a good idea... I had to make my son's father go home and get me clothes to wear.

Caralea-  Thank you!  I'm getting pretty excited about it all.  They moved the appt to Nov 27th, a day later so not much of a difference, but it will be a Saturday, which I thought was kinda weird.
You make a very good point about wearing jeans after a C-section.  I totally didn't think about that because I've never had one before.  I will probably wear sweatpants home, and for a while, then.  I'm so glad you mentioned it!

Angelbaby-  I'm sorry that you're having crazy swelling, too.  It's kinda nice to have someone to commiserate with, though.  I showed my 9 year old daughter the swelling and what happens when you press on my feet and she thought it was the most hilarious and fun thing in the world.  It's so funny what kids will think is great.  It's good to have fun with it and not take it too seriously because there's really nothing cool about having big, puffy, feet and legs.

I've heard that you lose weight when you're close to delivery so it will be interesting to see if any of us go into labor right after a weight loss.

Up down roller coaster, that is what I am on.. each time I have gained weight I loose at least half of it the next visit.

Good luck with your baby and delivery.

I am 34 weeks and it all depends on what start weight I go from.  I have put on 13.5 from where I was aroung the time of conception.  But I continued to lose weight during the first trimester.  At my 30 week appointment my doc didn't seem too concerned, but not thrilled either, about my low weight gain.  But it was enough to make her want an ultrasound to make sure baby was on track for weight (boy, was she: 71st percentile).  After that I must say I have indulged quite a bit in my eating...I showed that doc and put on 10 pounds in two weeks lol.  Today I went back, and (despite my piggish eating hehe) I lost four of those pounds.

I'm right there with you, I have TONS of water!  You can leave finger prints in my legs and feet!!  I was laying on my side with my bottom foot at the side of the shin on my other leg and when I went to get up, I had a 2 inch indention on my shin where it was laying on my foot!!  I'm up about 45 lbs and my doctor thinks a good chunk is the water.  Even my arms and face are puffy!!  I started off at 129lbs and i'm not liking the new numbers I'm seeing on the scale!

That is awesome your c-sec date is just around the corner!! Good Luck girl and I hope you get to go home in your jeans this time. I tried that after my son, but OMG the recovery from the c-section, just wouldnt allow me to wear jeans for a few weeks!

I am the odd ball of the group I guess... but I gained back 1 more pound, so -7 all together!!

I was actually 198 today, so that makes a total of about 43 lbs.. yikes!  Now, I also have a lot of fluid retention in my legs and feet, like more than I've ever had or seen on another woman.  The OB isn't too concerned about it and it's usually the worst ont he days I'm weighed at the OB's office since they're 2 hours away.
With my son I gained 35lbs and with my daughter more like 25lbs.  With him I brought jeans to wear home from the hospital that I wore until 4months pregnant and they didn't fit so with her I brought one pair of regular sized jeans (because I just wanted to wear some normal jeans at the end of both pregnancies) and one pair of looser jeans.  I was actually able to fit into my normal jeans after her and that was a great surprise.
Anyway, now we have a scheduled C for November 26th so I'm just going to eat normally and worry about any additional weight later.
With all of the complications I've had with this pregnancy, weight gain is the least of my worries.  I am planning on breastfeeding as well, so I hope that will help some with getting back to a healthy weight, but I am happy with my body either way and DH fell in love with me when I was this weight and NOT pregnant and having his support in that area is a wonderful stress-reliever for me.

I too am glad I am dont have any eating disorders/issues with the way I look- cause man, for not gaining anything... I am huge!!  No swelling so far, that has got to suck. My biggest issue is being able to eat a real sized meal. I get full really fast and probably havent been able to intake like normal. She is really pushing at my ribs and organs, which my son never did.

My midwife laughs at me saying "you can gain weight, if you want to". Well easier said than done. I eat healthy- but also have had a bad habit of drinking soda. I dont get it- it must be all the weight I had before.. just slimming it down to make room for baby.

I am shocked that I seem to be the only one in the neg group!!

This is baby #3. I started out a little overweight but not too bad. I have gained about 9kgs. Not sure what that is in pounds. I gained alot of this weight earlier in pregnancy as I was not feeling great and just mooching around the house. I have not gained anything in the last 7 weeks. Midwifes are happy with this as baby is measuring big and is incredibly active. I treat myself when I want but try to maintain a healthy diet which is no different to before I was pregnant. I really havnt changed things that much. Only experiencing some minor fluid at end of day. Still wearing my rings. I wouldnt be worried about the weight thing I gained about 30 kgs with #1, 15kg #2. It comes, it goes. Pretty lucky I dont have hang ups about body image.

I had lost about 50lbs before becoming pregnant.  I was about 155.  I lost some during the first trimester, then started gaining a little too much but only about 10lbs over so at 7 to 8 months I was 185, gained a total of 30 lbs.  Then I got weighed last week and was 199.  I was shocked and just stared at the scale and the nurse when she told me to get off the scale, lol.  I mean I was really in shock.  I had gained 14lbs in two weeks!
Then I went into the room and the doctor checked out my legs and feet for swelling, I hadn't really seen them all day as we'd been busy and they're not really something I try to look at much.  My ankles were HUGE.  Even my toes and calves up to my knees were swollen.  I can't even wear my wedding ring anymore and had a moment of panic when I was taking it off as I thought they might have to cut it.
So.. yeah.. I'm just trying to eat well and avoid worrying about the scale because the swelling is just crazy.  It goes down sometimes but not all the way.
On top of that I need to watch my sugar intake so now I also need to watch my salt intake.  Serious bummer.
I'm glad you started the topic, though, as I see other women have gained more than 26 lbs!
