Heart Beat at 5 weeks

Hi there,

My wife is six weeks pregnant, We recently had a u/s as we had a little scare with some light bleeding. Thinking we had lost the baby, a nurse found the baby heartbeat at 110 bpm at 5 weeks 3 days old. My question is this a normal heartbeat rate and what are the chances of miscarrying from seeing this? As she is a little anxious to know what other mothers have been through.

Thankyou 

Seeing the heartbeat that early on is a good sign. At this stage no one will be able to tell you if everything is ok, but many healthy pregnancies do not even show a heartbeat until closer to 6 weeks. Hope it all turns out well for you!
